It's a **** ground to get to and to park at... http://www.footballgroundguide.com/charlton_athletic/index.htm#Map
Its very similar to most of the London grounds - A nightmare. I am parking up at Cockfosters and grabbing the tube as its only £8.50 for London day travel card. This allows you to use all London transport(tube-rail-bus) for the day. If you have an Oyster card then its even better. £8.50 is cheaper than parking fines and clampers fees.
Last time we went I parked in the housing estate near the ground marked 'for permit holders only' and knocked on a door and asked if they wanted to loan out their visitors parking permit. They were that shocked at my cheek they lent me it for free on the promise I post it back before I go.
ive got an image of a street full of city fans knocking on doors now and everybody down there wondering whats going on, if you dont ask you dont get..haha
Last time I went on Tiger Travel we were abandoned by the side of a dual carriageway so from that I would presume that the parking at the ground is pretty dire!
We are staying overnight at the Travelodge in Woolwich, there is public parking near to Woolwich Arsenal which is just 2 stops on the overground from Charlton Station which is just a few minutes from the ground and also next to the Antigallican pub which is where away fans congregate - hoping to see loads of tigers in there
Tickets are available on the day (cash only) at the away (south) stand see link http://www.hullcityafc.net/news/article/charlton-a-ticket-info-302640.aspx
Why on earth would you drive to a football match in London? Can't think of anything worse. just have to wing it I reccon, should be ok.
Thanks mate, I did read this but got a bit confused... Since season ticket holders will have had priority and tickets sent to them, does it mean there's a chance ticket numbers might be limited on the day?
after palace last year. my tip - DON'T GO. Alternatively, DON'T DRIVE!!!!!! Save your money for the good away trips. London is a S H I T HOLE after all.
i prefer car to london, train might be quicker but then you have to mix with them all and hate getting shoved and squashed in like a sardine..prefer the safety of the car..haha
It's my Godson's 18th on Friday night and much as I really want to go to this one, I can't face South London and back with a hangover.
Train it is then. An extra 30 minutes each way but that would probably be the time spent looking for a space! Thanks everyone.
