In 2001, Ki was sent to Australia by his father, who believed that Ki could play football and learn to speak English.[4] He played the bulk of his youth career at John Paul College in Brisbane under the BSP (Brain Soccer Program) overseen by Jeff Hopkins. He was part of the team that won the U-15 Nationals (Bill Turner Cup) for John Paul College in 2004. Ki received offers in 2005 from Korean club FC Seoul and also A-League club Brisbane Roar, but decided to move back to South Korea to continue his career. Since then, Ki has been a fluent English speaker. He went by his English name David in Australia.[5]

I think he should be nicknamed Dai Ki or Dai the dog the welsh for dog is ci, pronounced very like English key.

Personally I find this thread offensive. Sweeping generalisation and stereotyping.

Looks like Laudrup's plan to have two strong players for each position is taking shape. Competition will be high. Will he do the unthinkable and drop Britton? He was outstanding Saturday as was everybody else. My best guess is Ki will be on the bench.

Hernandez will join him as Routledge deserves another start. :)

Or ..... he plays Ki, puts DG on the bench, and plays Michu as a #9 ..... that's what the guy has on his back. This could be our Plan B, or is it A, or is it C.

I suppose next Sat, Ki and Hernandez (if we sign him in time), will start on the bench and be given a week or so to get settled in before starting.

I think De Guzman might drop to the bench next game . Dyer , Michu , Britton , Ki , Routledge . De Guzman can play out wide also so after Sinclair is off to Man City we'll have Dyer , Routledge , ( Hopefully ) Hernandez & possibly De Guzman that can play out wide . I expect Michu , Britton & Ki more times than not starting games .
