Morning Everyone, TRANSFER-LISTED Danny Pughâs Elland Road departure is set to be put on temporary hold âfollowing news that Paul Greenâs knee injury is worse than first feared. Summer signing Green limped off towards the end of the first half of Saturdayâs 1-0 Championship win over Wolves and he could be on the sidelines for several weeks. Who is making the trip down to the seaside for the match later ??? LAW firm Simpson Millar has signed a one year sponsorship deal with football club Leeds United. The firm, which operates 11 national offices from its headquarters in Leeds, is led by life-long fan Peter Watson. ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY 1995 Tony Yeboah marks the first home game of the season with one of the best strikes in Premier League history as he scores the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win over Liverpool. 1999 Lee Bowyer and Danny Mills are on target as Leeds beat Sunderland 2-1 at home. 2001 Leeds show their title credentials with a 2-1 win at Arsenal. Ian Harte and Mark Viduka are on target as Leeds finish the game with nine men after Lee Bowyer and Danny Mills are sent off. 2004 Nottingham Forest hold Leeds to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road. Steve Guppy gives Leeds the lead but Andy Reid equalises from the penalty spot for the visitors with twelve minutes remaining. 2010 Davide Somma scores his first two goals for Leeds as they come from behind to beat Millwall 3-1 at Elland Road. Richard Naylor puts through his own goal before Lloyd Sam equalises for Leeds. Somma comes off the bench to score twice late on to secure the points for Leeds. 2011 Leeds twice come from behind to draw 2-2 at West Ham. Carlton Cole gives West Ham an early lead and Max Gradel wastes a great chance to equalise for Leeds when he misses from the penalty spot. Ross McCormack equalises for Leeds in the second half before Patrick Kisnorbo puts through his own goal to restore West Ham`s lead. Adam Clayton equalises for Leeds in stoppage time to earn Leeds a well-deserved point.
Morning Elland. Shows how thin the squad still is if Pugh has to be kept to cover for Green. What would we have done if Pugh had already moved on? I know we've said it time and again, but a cash injection is needed now and not in six or twelve months time. Have to feel sympathy for Warnock trying to build a team under these ridiculous circumstances
Morning Elland. Not sure I understand why we need to hold on to Pugh. Warnock has brought in enough new faces to cover Green's injury. Not going to Blackpool, but looking forward to Posh on Saturday. As to tonight, if we can get a solid draw, I'd be pleased. A 1-0 wn would be handy.
i have 3 Blacpool players in my fantasy footy team so do me a favour and just roll over 6-0 would be nice
Morning all Chesh had robinson in but he is out for a couple of weeks and some twat from fester city who aint even there anymore so had to make 2 changes already so i put in 2 Blackpool lads cos they have an easy game tonight
Moring Eire, Another couple of decent signings before the transfer window shuts, and we'll have a decent squad that'll be pushing for promotion
Morning, Seems strange that Pugh is now being kept because of this injury. If we need him in the squad because there has been ONE injury, why would we sell him?! I don't rate him highly, but he's okay as back up and I don't think he should be on the transfer list. Agreed that Warnock has done a great job improving our team from last season, whilst actually having a higher transfer income than expenditure.
In regards to Pugh I would imagine some of it is gamesmanship from Warnock aimed at the chairman and wanting funds released
Representatives of a major private equity firm in the Middle East were among the guests of Ken Bates during Saturday’s game between Leeds United and Wolves, the Yorkshire Evening Post can reveal. Salem Patel and David Haigh, senior figures at Dubai-based investment GFH Capital Limited, joined United’s chairman at Elland Road for the club’s first match of the Championship season amid on-going talks about a buy-out of Leeds. Patel – a board member at GFH Capital – and Haigh, the firm’s deputy chief executive officer, sat close to Bates in the stadium’s East Stand throughout a 1-0 win over Wolves.
