Good news all round. Yet another product of our Academy. Let's hope we can get promotion in order to hang o to him, White, Poleon etc.

Only 18 signed a three year deal, you have to wonder why it wasn't at least a 4 year one but good news all the same.

3 years is progress!! Surprised it wasn't 1 or 2 years, tbh. Think Warnock is influencing decisions in all areas throughout the club. Pity Grayson didn't.

This sort of continuity is brilliant. He only signed his one-year pro contract back in May. I wonder if Bates was getting him signed on a cheap 3-year deal before he demanded twice as much by the end of the year?

Young Leeds United goalkeeper Alex Cairns has signed for Stalybridge Celtic on loan.

The 19 year old has signed for the Blue Square Bet North side on a one-month loan deal.

Cairns made one appearance for Leeds last season when he came off the bench at half time against Blackpool and he signed a new two-year deal with the club in January.

The academy product spent a month on loan with Blue Square Premier Division side Barrow at the start of 2012 but returned to Elland Road after failing to make an appearance.

Cairns has been drafted in by Celtic after their regular goalkeeper Andy Ralph suffered a suspected broken leg in the opening minutes of their first game of the season at Workington Town on Saturday.

The goalkeeper could make his debut for Celtic when they entertain Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday night, looking to bounce back from a 4-1 defeat to Workington.

Because he could turn out to be **** and then we have a player that we can't get rid of on a long contract. Admittedly its unlikely but I could imagine that'll be the reasoning behind it

3 years is still a good length mind you

Its also good to see Cairns going out on loan

3 years is a good length. Plenty of young players start brightly and then don't progress, and also if he does continue to develop into a good player, which I think he will, then the club should be looking to give him a new deal on improved terms in a years time or so.
