QPR looking to add steel at the back with Spurs centre half Dawson Queens Park Rangers are monitoring Michael Dawson as doubts linger over his Tottenham future. Manager Mark Hughes is keen to bring in a centre back after watching Barcelona's Andreu Fontas, 22, and Kurt Zouma of St Etienne. Dawson, 28, was left out of Saturday's defeat at Newcastle and question marks remain over team-mates Tom Huddlestone and David Bentley. QPR, who have agreed a fee with Cardiff for defender Matt Connolly, expect midfielder Joey Barton to finalise his loan to Marseille this week. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2191174/Queens-Park-Rangers-targeting-Michael-Dawson.html A lot better than Bassong and an all round good defender. If it only wasn't for all his injury problems...
Would be a great signing for us... if he wasn't so injury prone. But then again, all Spurs defenders seem to be. Must have something to do with their training regime.
we should have sorted our defence out before the season started, everyone is going to know we are desperate now
That could well be a very good point. I hope not. Dawson would be a great Ranger. He just seems to get too injured.
Everyone knew that except MH and TF. So TF tells us management started working on transfers as soon as the man city game finished and here we are....Yet another pre season wasted because neither of them jumped on this board to get some ideas.
Would be a fantastic signing. Wouldn't mind Huddlestone either to be honest, great passer of a football and in a similar situation to Dawson.
Yes that is more like it a very good player when fit, would organise the defence out. Hope this is true and we get him
We've been trying to sort our defence!!! We have been after samba, we lost out on buttner and we brought in Fabio. Unfortunately they haven't come off, but the fact we haven't pulled these deals off is not Hughes fault, sometimes deals come off and sometimes they don't. Just look at the players we are going for, buttner just signed for man utd, samba plays for the new rich boys in football and cost them 12 million 8 months ago. We are trying to sign top players, sometimes hughes had pulled it off like park and Hoilett, but when it comes to the defence it hasn't. But why don't people see or get that fact? Why assume Hughes is a mug who couldn't see that our defence needed sorting? He could sign defenders with no experience and youngsters who would jump at the chance if signing, but would that help? Or should he try to buy quality players who are going to make us a much stronger team, but at the risk theses deals won't always come off? I know what I'd prefer and I think he's doing a good job and come the end if the month we will have signed more defenders and we will be a lot stronger. But please, some people stop bloody worrying and over reacting to one bad loss. It will happen again but we are on the up.
I shouldn't think there are many Spurs reserve players we haven't been linked with since our return to the premiership
Because it's not fact. It's purely speculation. Were we after buttner? Did we ever make a bid for samba? We all know not to trust the media. No one knows who we targeted because TF kept his cards so close to his chest but what I do know is a month ago both TF and MH seemed very content with our signings and could not guarantee more. TF even said our rebuilding was done. Hardly confidence boosting but if we can sign a few defenders before the end of the month, then all is forgiven.
Spot on. Ridiculous over-reaction on some of these boards at the moment. How quickly some of us have become spoilt eh?
I think this would be a good addition to the back line. It wasn't so long ago Dawson was Spurs player of the year. Would improve back line and give us some sadly lacking leadership at the back - we so need someone leading that line as we have had in our teams of the past (Macca, Fenwick). Hopefully the ankle ligament injury is all sorted now. Played in pre-season games, so sounds like he's good. Let's go get him!
Injury prone or not I'd take Dawson right away. Would be a great signing. As David Bentley, god forbid. Huddlestone is a very good player pace aside.
