Been discussing this guy today in the office with a mix of Cardiff and Swansea fans and was hoping someone could answer this. He was the top scoring midfielder in La Liga last year which is some effort considering the Barca and Real squads yet he costs you only £2m, also why were there no other 'bigger clubs' trying to get him, I only say this as if there is a player thats looks remotely talented in Spain he is usually bought by the big 2 over there and stuck in their reserve team if he doesnt make the grade. Just seems strange that he is so cheap considering he has obvious quality and there seemed to be nobody else in for him.

Well done on spanking QPR, I had you down for a loss on my coupon.

He stated that a number of clubs were in for him but he chose us because he wanted to play for Michael Laudrup.

Michu was touted as a £2 mill reduced deal in March (due to his clubs fincial woes), before we even needed him (as Siggy was here). The national press new the score, the agents were putting his name around, he carried on playing well, ....but he fell of the big clubs radar (probably down to them being sidetracked by the Euros, then watching the Olympic players and their obsession spanish players cannot make it/ must sign English). Thank eff they did.

Here's an article from The Fail in March when he was being touted to Man U, Liverpool etc for the £2 million he went for ......LOVING IT!!!! They're and every other club with £2 mill to spend's loss, and our gain!! The links to him and the Prem continued throughout March til the end of the season but then dropped off (funnily enough, just when the Euros started!) Don't forget, the clubs with Euro ambitions need to atisfy the home grown quota.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2148778/Michu-consider-Premier-League-offers.html

We lose BR and get Laudrup with £7mill cash and then lose Joe but get £15 mill but gain Michu for just £2 mill....... cheers 'pool for taking your eye of the ball (laudrup was a name on the 'pools manager radar and michu as a player)

It could also be argued it is also down to this disease/xenophobia in the Leagues that you need to have a British manager/player or very top Euro manager/player.

Huw Jenkins and the board, take a bow!! The Spanish economy and game is in turmoil.... it didn't take a genius to spot it.... http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/143337-Vive-La-France-and-Viva-L-Espana

This may sound daft, but the price probably put alot of clubs off !! £2m quid was probably too cheap for most clubs so they thought his price was far to low to even be considered as a top player, bearing in mind that big clubs are paying that kind of money for untried school kids..<laugh> if real valecano (sp) touted him for £20m then he would probably strutuing his stuff for Liverpool or Man utd as we speak!

His parent club was desperate for money so they thought selling him for a couple of million for quick money would be easy, the snobery of the premier league meant that at his advertised price he was not worthy of standing along side the likes of £35 m andy carrol and the mediocre tripe that changes hands for multi millions.

Its very early days though and its too early to judge him, but the signs are looking very good and he could be a star for our team <ok>

I think that we ourselves don't quite realise as fans just exactly how big Michael Laudrup's name is in football circles. Given the quality of players that are happy to sign up for us now I think we're all in the process of finding out.
Already this team looks stronger than last seasons.

I'm sure that Laudrup was a huge attraction, but the price was dictated by the dire situation that Spanish football is in. I've been all over the media in the run up to the start of the season (so I'm not saying because I'm any sort of footballing specialist) and Michu, along with a few others, came up because of their price. There's talk of more Spanish teams having to sell low to make money quick or they're in the brown stuff, right up to their necks.

We only got him for that price, because of Laudrup, and being at the right place at the right time, timing is critical, I suppose, anyway we are happy!..................

The Spanish top 2 divisions are £3.4 billion in debt and all the TV rights and money go to Barca and Real ...simples.

All the more reason to get Scott to either sign tomorrow or we tout him to any club that takes him (including 'pool) so we can get Hernandez <ok>

Thought their club was in admin and the administrators ordered him to be sold, and to accept the £2m offered.

There was a review of possible arrivals to the Prem from overseas on MOTD 3 and Hernandez wasn't mentioned. I suspect that's to do with their ineptitude more than anything else. If he's still under the radar I'm happy.

I know this means nothing whatsoever, but his wiki page has him down as a Swansea player

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pablo_Hernández_Domínguez

Then there's this that could influence things...
