His job is to tackle & break up play. It's hardly the job that's the most pleasing on the eye. His job most of the time doesn't get noticed, but his contribution is still there.
As much as I like McKenna, if we brought someone like Tunnicliffe in who can tackle AND shoot, then I wold be happy with it. Bad news for Matty, maybe bring a loan striker in or the SAF talks either Brady or preferably King.
How many penalties did Fryatt have in his tally for last season? McKenna has already had more shots this season than the whole of last.Under Barmby he was always turning it back to build from the rear.SB has changed that already.
I wouldn't like to see us lose Mckenna, unless we have a replacement in mind that is younger and better or at least as good as Mckenna. Fryatt will be a miss if he is injured, hopefully Simpson can build on his goal on Saturday and Prossy settles down and starts scoring.
My lad played in a tournement at Hessle on Sunday, Ash was there with his lad. Got a photo with my lad and had a quick chat with Ash. He said we lack someone in centre midfield who can "smash 'em". You can't argue with a City legend.
Naturally, more than 50% of City fans don't actually understand what a good defensive midfielder is supposed to do - but I think it would be a big mistake to sell him. Sure, i'd love to see Evans come in and do a job, but I think that McKenna can be a very valuable asset for another year or two. He was probably my player of the season last year.
I'd be fine if McKenna leaves as i think Evans is more the capable of replacing him and he is also better at going forward!
But when playing in a midfield 2 alongside Koren, McKenna should sit and let Koren be the player to make things happen up front. There were far to many times on Sat when McKenna was ahead of Koren leaving us exposed as he was struggling to get back. He needed to sit more and allow our attack minded players do their job.
Yes I was actually but what I'm saying is that him shooting is very rare and you may only get it once every 12 games or something
I would worry about Fryatt if I was you. Your lot couldnt find out what was wrong with Waghorn and when he came back here we found out he had quite a serious injury
Achillies is a niggly one, can recur at anytime; He's best resting a couple of weeks but the good news is that the scan is clear. Simpson, Proschwitz, Mclean & Aluko should provide goals in the meantime and Koren is always capable.
Achilles is the worst. I had it once and sometimes it goes but then any wrong footing and it goes. I took 6 months off and it was fine with no treatment but Matty will get treatment so he should be back soon. Maybe mid September.
