Feels so good to say "I told you so" to all the arrogant fans of other teams who have dismissed Lambert as a lower league player. I think all Saints fans were confident he could do it and he's just shown it against the best defence in the league. Yes it's only a start but we all know what Rickie can do with a bit of confidence in him. Can't wait to see how he does this year now he's got the first one under his belt! COYR
He's a great player who has been overlooked. We would probably have done the same if we weren't in League 1. Glad he's got the first PL goal...he'll be raring to go.
Bit quicker than his first Championship goal as well! Loved the way the team got a lift when he came on, but must say, Nigel had the tactics spot on IMO. Glad Lambo didn't get hurt in celebration, made my back twinge watching him!
Unless it was a one off for Man City, Lambert will be kept fresh by using as an impact sub for matches against top sides. We'll trust Nigel to know his players best.
Would be nice if he was fit enough to play 90 minutes! Still, if he gets a goal from the bench every time I guess that'll do.
It's not often that Rickie starts on the bench so to come on and score almost instantly on his Premier League debut is something special. He is a quality player and natural goalscorer!
Would love to see him start in a 4-4-2 formation on Saturday vs Wigan and really go for them - not impressed with them on TV yesterday!
As i said, "it's only a start" although 1 goal in 40mins of EPL football is pretty good, esecially against the Champions. My main point is that he's got the monkey off his back early on and can now move on and score goals.
Wigan aren't bad on the ball, so reckon we'll see the 433 again to control the match. Lambert to start though as he won't have to wear himself out chasing this game.
Lambert is a legend. Every step up he's had his doubters and shoved it down their throat. I expect this season to be the same.
What are the odds Lambert leads three straight ascending leagues in scoring? Not as long as they were Friday.
Was on Ladbrokes the other evening and Rickie was 80-1 to be the prems top scorer, now considering how Holt did last year I couldnt quite believe it!! Needless to say I stuck a few quid on it ....had to be worth a punt in my book
