I was still outside at the start of the match so missed whatever was going on but I know I did not hear "Tiger Tiger" or the usual music then our Elvis song. I gather Steve Jordan no longer does the east stand west stand thing. So can someone tell me what replaced this. I know clubs have to modernise and things have to change but I quite liked the Tiger Tiger bit myself and I remember Ashbee singing the Elvis song on the balcony of City Hall when we were promoted. I am sure a lot of people will totally disagree with me but it is like everything traditional and stuff that gives fans a connection with the club has been stripped away.
The stuff that was routinely complained about every week? Yeah, good riddance. Oh and if you're suggesting the Allams have personally decided to change all that stuff....you know what, nothing I say will change your paranoia so, yeah, whatever.
It is a fact that things have changed this season and I was just asking what replaces it. I think it is peole like you who are paranoid about anyone having an opinion other than the Allams are wonderfull all praise the Allams.
I had no issue with Tiger Tiger, but Wise Men Say was crap, we've only had it since the Wembley game and it's used by loads of clubs(particularly Sunderland, who's fanzine used to be called Wise Men Say). As for the welcome to the ambulance chasing east stand bollocks, it should have been binned years ago.
Putting it that way has just made me think, it started at BP when it as just West, South, and Kempton and was carried on here. I can't imagine the sponsors are happy about it being dropped when they've paid for naming rights, that was the one time of the day I was actually aware of knowing who the sponsors were.
Not like they're plastered all over the stands in big signs anyway I prefered the Tiger Tiger, even though the mix was utterly shocking, the carmina burana samples were well out of synch and volume levels spiked going up and down like a bi-polars mood swings. I don't think the new orchestral music is very fitting, and the heavier music when the players come out is what I'd expect to hear in the bedroom of a teenage japanese video game nerd trying to complete sonic the hedgehog in a world record time. They should have just remastered the old music, it was far better.
Agreed. They should have binned the "Good Afternoon..." crap when Steve Jordan arrived. When Martyn Hainstock did it before he passed away (R.I.P) at BP it was much better. I'll still never forget Hainstock at the last EVER game at Boothferry ( a reserve match against Barnsley in 2002 after the Darlo game) that "This was Boothferry Park. Thank you"; will live with me forever
It was completely different when Hainstock did it, he injected some humour into proceedings, quite often his announcements were more entertaining than the game.
If they were going to introduce the wide men say section after Wembley, I can't understand why they went for Elvis. It might have been the original, but it is the slowest version if the song. Especially after Wembley I'd have chosen the Andy Williams version. It's loud, upbeat, easy to sing along with, which surely was their intention. That opening few bars of that version still gives me goosebumps and takes me back to that afternoon in London. As for the new intro, I'm fine with losing the singalong and the good afternoon east stand stuff. It never seemed to work. But I think it should have been replaced. Saturday just felt like "heres a little instrumental" until were ready. Requiem for a Tower is getting a bit overused too, isn't it?
The original poster didn't even mention the Allams just you , as for paranoia what are you talking about ?
We needed a music change IMO. It had gone stale and the Welcome to the stands was to get the fans going. Whip up the passion. We may need dynamite nowadays for that. I like the new music sequence myself though maybe the club should think about changing and playing Welcome to the Jungle when the teams come out at some point. My big grumbles come elsewhere on matchdays now. 1)Programme a poorer quality than last season and still No action pics from previous games. Thats 4 years now since. 2)I liked / preferred the flat edge to the match programme first started by Man City in 2008. Lesta do that now. 3)OSC club shop discount has been stopped by the club. 4)Beer is still overpriced and not very nice. Same for the food. Lower both prices needed. 5)Still No Betting available. Other than the above issues I am fairly happy at the moment with Hull City.
Defiantly shouldn't have got rid of the tigers burning bright 5min build up, but glad the stand introductions have gone, although that was the only time I heard the west stand. Have they sacked the right here right now song aswell?
Because (s)he quite often has a dig about them, and is firmly in the Blame the Allams for Everything camp. I might have jumped the gun a bit, but it was coming. It always does. What (s)he was thinking when (s)he wrote this thread was: "It is like everything traditional and stuff that gives fans a connection with the club has been stripped away"....(by the Evil Allams who are set on destroying our club). Like I also said, good riddance, it was all ****e anyhow, and thats a fairly universal opinion, and not a sign of any connections with the club being stripped away, quite the opposite in fact as most people will rejoice. Apart from Jules of course.
Well well Madhog I have made lots of posts recently and you have not said anything about those and I have not slated the Allams in any of them. Like I say your the paranoid one. Why does it have to that we either have to love the Allams and everything they do or hate them. I am in neither camp. I did not like the way they handled the Barmby situation and I think they are very unpredictable. That does not mean they are setting out to destroy the club or any other such nonsense. I can ask questions about what things are changing and why, fact is some of the traditions have gone and I wanted to know what people thought of it and what was going to replace it. Like it or loath it at least there was a build up now there doesn't seem to be. It really is people like you who are blinkered you give the impression that you would back them no matter what they did instead of actually thinking about it and forming your own opinion. Anyway I don't want this thread to turn into a for or against the Allams, there has been enough of those before so just stop trying to stir things up.
I think the Allams are slowly removing all tradition and anything involving Adam Pearson from the club, in their mission to have us playing in red and white and called the Egyptian pharaohs. I'd guess it's only a matter of time before we play our home games in Cairo, much the same as well be playing Cardiff away in kuala lumpur soon. Cardiffs owners set the precedent and the Allams are seizing the chance IMO.
They can have as much signage as they want, I bet more people knew the sponsors from the announcement than from reading the signs. I for one tend to be looking at the big green thing in front of me rather than the stands.
Agreed. Fatboy Slim and Tigers Tigers on continuous loop was getting a bit wearing. Kick off seemed to arrive much quicker and let the atmosphere build a bit more, rather than being drowned out. Don't miss Hello N/W/S/E Stands at all, and always thought the Elvis bit was a bit cringeworthy.
