Bullsh*t. If he's that brittle that he can't block the crowd out at this stage of his career then he's a choker. And if he's a choker then he's the last thing we need. Not saying he is, but if what you're saying is true then we've signed a turd.
Rob Green has always looked a nervous wreck but I will stand with hime to get his form back ... he seems to dive too early at times but i am more concerned about the crosses. Confidence is everything in football and in life ... we owe it to him to support him. If i hear anyone slagging off the players unless it was Barton then I always made a point of letting them know my viewpoint as well ... The twat who got my tea all over him at the Bristol City game will remember that. None of us should stand for it
Thats only because you are used to Kenny moving 5 seconds after the ball has passed him. Apparently the morons in Q block were abusing him and then having a go at fans for leaving 10 mins early and saying they werent "real fans". Oh the irony.
Have to agree with that. If he can't hold it together with some negative vibes heading his way (not that I agree they should be coming from our supporters) then his confidence will get brutalised every away game. He's got to be made of sterner stuff and have an ego otherwise he's already gone.
Kenny started awful, Cerny started awful. The same morons who were signing for Kenny last game were signing for Camp 10 mins into Cernys debut. It can be overcome, abuse from your own fans is 100 times worse than coming from the opposition.
I think he's been gone a few years Matt. Don't understand why we brought him in. The challenge for MH now is to face up to the fact that he's screwed up big time, get rid quick, and get in a new Keeper who is up to playing for a PL Club, with plans on staying a PL club, before 1/9. We cannot afford to wait for any new medicine for Green to work. Nor can we afford for MH to be to proud to recognise that bringing him in was a giant C*ck Up.
What bit is Bullsh*t? out of interest. I am just telling you what I heard. First competitive game and the guy was slagging him off as soon as the whistle went.
Hughes won't dump Green, he'll persist on the basis that he will come good. Maybe he will, maybe he will be just as calamitous. Whatever, but time is not on our side, we need a kick up the arse for next weekend
I know you're not lying Jack and its a good point to be fair. Matt's response five posts above this one is where I'm at.
I just think it becomes a vicious circle for some players sometimes when their own fans lay into them, further affecting their confidence and does not help the team overall. Many thought Paddy was not up to it last season and it was clearly MH view as well as he has replaced him. We all knew he was prown to these kind of errors but hopefully we will see that he is a berrter keeper overall. I agree the jury is out though
You are probably right, but I am very scared that this will be a HUGE mistake that could cost us our PL place. Having a Keeper playing like that many games will be calamitous. And I don't know that Cerny is fit enough (not even on the Bench Saturday!), or Murphy good enough, to take over.
I think with us it's clear that Green has come for the money as he could of stayed at West Ham in the Prem ... I am betting he thought **** we are going to be murdered at the Hammers in the Prem. It will be interesting to see how he gets over this. Any keeper has to earn their stripes and Green comes with a catalogue of errors ... I hope we wins through
Green looked superb in that training session this morning, and he got a good reception from the fans that were there. ( However many the West Paddock holds. ) He looks super fit and I think he will be a top goalie for us. The fans need to get behind him, he will come good.
Had Paddy Kenny performed better than just "okay" last season they would not have let him go and we wouldn't be having this conversation.
i think youre being very generous there, 90% of his games were unacceptable. He was so slow that he wouldnt have got near the shot that Green let slip through his hands.
Dropping Green now would be a massive mistake in my eyes. he had a bad debut no doubt about that - but to drop him after one game would shatter any remaining confidence and would take a long long time to overcome. Remember connolly in our promotion season. Give him another chance, and give him the opportunity to come back stronger. He is better than Kenny imo. Kenny was shocking most of last season, and as Flyer says, Green will have to go a long way to be worse than him.
