A number of us have commented that De Guzman needs to up his work rate but I just read a piece about him where he says that he has not played competitive football in over 12 months. If this is the case, fair play him to him. He'll need a few games before he gets up to proper match speed and then I think we'll see the best of a talented player.

Hope that the deal for Pablo Hernandez is still on whether Scott stays or not. He looks the business and would be a great addition to the squad. Also heard that the deal for Miku is not dead either.

After yesterday's result I would think that a lot of players hitherto sitting on the fence are calling their agents saying stop messing around, get me in there. We are the small, big club.

Difficult to really pin point a MOTM as all ready mentioned so worthy candidates, but I'm going for Michu, for a quality all round display.

MOTM is definitely Gower for me <laugh> or maybe the man is Laudrup for bringing in 3 players who are obviously class, and played a big part yesterday.

Got to be Michu. Scored 2 and set up 1. after yesterday, I wonder if Sinclair will think twice about his loyalties after that performance, although with us lining up Hernandez, show us the money man city. The team did great, Laudrup is making headlines in the right way and HJ seems to of come up trumps again. ONE HAPPY jACK.

My vote goes to Michu - classy debut, scoring twice and assisting another. Just generally looking very composed, tidy and skillful on the ball. Great signing.

On the possession stats topic - BBC actually do their own statistics. I don't know why, but they do. And that's why their values are different. Opta have a specific calculation which they use to calculate possession based on number of passes per team and also taking into account different events that occur in the match (no, I don't know this calculation). I think what BBC do is what Opta used to do - the chess clock approach. They have a person who just switches the clock whenever possession is handed over to the other side and the percentages are calculated at the end. Problem is that if possession changes very quickly at times, or if the person has a dozy 5 minutes, the possession stats can skew quite wildly. Basically what I'm saying is, if you want an accurate possession reading, look at the match write-up on the Sky Sports website which always uses Opta statistics.

I take no pleasure in the 'pools torment and it is early days for all, but this quote from The Mirror did make me smile ......

... In fact Rodgers has got loads to do just to turn Liverpool into a better version of his old ‘Swanselona’ side, never mind Barcelona. “We are a work in progress, but we still have got to win games,” admitted *Rodgers.

Routledge Routledge Routledge Routledge Routledge Routledge Routledge Routledge Routledge Routledge

Everything good in attack happened through him. 3 assists for first three goals. Never saw Sinclair torment a midfield and defense like he did.

    Bye bye Scotty, hello Wayne.

Looks like it might be bye bye Scotty and hello Hernandez - he's not playing or on the bench for Valencia tonight.

I cannot just give this to one player. Vorm was awesome, as was Ash, Michu, Dyer, Routledge. The game yesterday showed me that Wayne is adequate cover for Scott should he go, if not better.

If I really had to choose, I guess Michu would edge it because of the 2 goals and an assist.

Chico will very quickly become a cult hero, if he isn't already.

Routledge and Dyer were unplayable at times, quality both of them.

Leon pulled the strings again but Michu was the MOM. What a snip at £2M

Oh and by the way, Gower was quality when he came on

Agreed Dilli. Still pinching myself at the £2M price tag for Michu. Our manager certainly has an eye for a bargain. Hernandez next! :)

Hope so Aussie, Hernandez looks to be several levels above Sinclair.
