now remind me, which set of fans said lambert wouldnt make it in the championship?? <whistle>
he came top scorer in the championship and player of the season.

and remind me, which set of fans said lambert wouldnt make it in the prem?? <laugh>
a few minutes into his 1st premier league match away at champions man city, he scores! he is winning everything in the air, holding it up well, not made a mistake yet.

he is better than holt and any other same type of player as him. i wouldnt be surprised if he wins an england cap this season.

hopefully the same set of fans will say he wont make it at that level too <doh><laugh>

proud day to be a gashead watching lambert in the prem.

    well done lambert.

CJS I though the played superbly for his 30 odd miinute run out. I'd love to see him grab about 12 - 14 goals this season and help Southampton stay up.

    2nd <ok>

we lost at ashton gate? hmmm when was this?........... oh the friendly/pre season/testimonial match that is not an actual competitive match? you must be so proud <laugh>
as for ryan clarke, he never got a chance with us. but he played really well yesterday. he came out and gave us all a clap and i was disgusted that throughout the half he was at the blackthorn end he received some abuse from some sad individuals. fair shout to him. his dad is not far off on his comments based on what i witnessed yesterday. but its just game 1. when we got promoted last time.... you know the seson we met in a real competitve game which i recall us winning ;)...... we lost our 1st games 4-1. we started better this time <laugh>

atkins had nothing to do with it. it was pardew who bought him for saints. it was him who got lambert going. he made lambert fitter. with the class around lambert at the saints in recent seasons, that also improved lamberts game. there was no one else at rovers to take the pressure off of him.

Thanks for fair comment oldboy. We're not claiming Lambert as one of our own, it's
just that those of us who were privileged to see him play for Rovers could see that
    he was something special.
He's an honest pro with all round skills, and there's something refreshing in seeing him
score in all divisions, continually proving his critics wrong.

We gave Rickie the chance to shine. So we did help in making him what he is now. We also changed him from a fat Midfielder to a striker didn't we? I think we have a little say in what he has achieved, even if it is just a tiny bit.

Who would have thought it Lambo in the prem scoring well past the England number 1 fair play!!

We f****d up the season he scored a mammoth amount of goals before he went to the Saints, unfortunately we let in too many goals the other end to gain promo into the championship.

Really good player who has got better and better each season.

As for England CJ I wish him well but maybe a step to far

Shame they did not draw with City that would have been class

You talk some **** you ****heads Lambert was nothing until he came to us and the reason Southampton signed him was because of his goal scoring record with us.
