Suggestion to keep the Sunderland board alive and primarily for Sunderland fans

One of the features of the old BBC606 website was the ability of the author of an article to "self moderate" in so much as they could hide comments from other contributors that were spam, off topic, vulgar,offensive or wumming in nature.

If this feature were available on the not606 board then IMO it would go a long way to giving the creator of the article the ability to keep the thread on topic and enhance the quality of debate therein.

If they only wanted comment from Sunderland fans then they say so in the article and delete any unwanted contributions.

The mods would still be in overall control and if they saw the privilege being abused then they could lock the thread and counsel the author.

Surely the only people against this suggestion would be the growing band of antagonist that seem to think Mackem baiting is a legitimate pastime.

If you were against it then all you have to do is create an article and invite comments from all.

 

Already been tried with mag-free threads, didn't work out.

 

and we tried but the site wont allow it. Problem is that there are 3 posts, by SAFC fans, on first page so maybe NUFC fans are wanted by some or why the threads

 

In my opinion Syd, even most of those who tell us to **** off actually want us here. As soon as we disappear, threads pop up.

 

I agree, IMO the forum is trying to be all things to all posters and it cant. One mans WUM is another mans debater so the only answer, yo me, is to use two forums. In Newcastle case its the Toon one and this for us its mine, SMB or the like and here. Or simply ignore the threads you dont like.

 

I really think people are taking this all far to seriously. In the old 606 days me, smug and a few others had a field day with the banter from the opposition. Iv'e made a few friends through it and he did also, it's an internet forum for gawds sake, not a matter of life and death and certainly not the intensity I face day to day with my girls..

I never thought I'd comment on one of these threads but the few times I am on here a month, these threads seem to be the norm. If you have a problem with someone, meet them in a back alley and go for it

I have no objections to toon fans posting constructive and meaningful comment, none at all - but this is not always the case is it?

As a result Sunderland & Newcastle fans post considered comments on their dedicated sites and leave not606 to become a lesser board where the threads are effectively spammed by continuous one line bitching by a hardcore minority of Newcastle fans who seem to have a fetish for such activity.

And for clarity - I would rather Cheik/Anita was not here - the board was a lot more stress free without him than it is with him -I know cause I was there.

 

As a mod, I have received ONE message, from Roger, about removing a Mag post. ONE.

If you want posts removed, ask, and we will remove them, and put a reason for removal.

Simples.

 

but its not MM, commo was torn apart on a thread this week for saying exactly that, it really is trying to be all things to all men, IMO.

 

I've had no requests from anyone to delete posts/threads so don't understand the whining that goes on by some on here. If you feel that strongly report it to a mod give a reason and we can do something about it.

 

Joe - the reason it was tolerable before on both 606 and not606 is that they were outnumbered and their effect diluted - now with the defections and people not posting then their effect is more concentrated.

It is one thing debating with a fellow Sunderland fan - it is another to debate with a toon fan who you may suspect is being contrary just because of who they support.

One of the most prolific contributors to the Sunderland board is probably Cheik.

 

Syd, Comm also said he had seven requests to ban Cheik and was given valid reasons - one of which was an admission he came on here mainly to wum...................yet here he is again dominating proceedings.

And that sums up the issue nicely, a Newcastle fan dominating proceedings on the Sunderland board.

 

But in his new guise he hasn't been wumming, so it's fair that he's given a chance.

It's a forum, all this 'i'm leaving cos there's a Mag on the board' is bollocks.

If I end up leaving, due to the intolerance of OUR fans.

The main culprit for ruining this forum by a country mile is chiek/anita or whatever he calls himself these days. He is a sick social misfit that has a lot of external issues which he obviously cannot hide by a change of name.

Failure to act and ban him totally and permanently (surely his IP address can be monitored) will ultimately finish the Sunderland contingent as less and less are actually contributing these days form the old red and white lads.

The other b&w's are far more tolerable and offer better debate. This individual just wants to cause mayhem and split the board. To allow him to continue to do so is only going to see more and more leave until there will be more mags than sunderland fans on a sunderland board and that would be ridiculous.

 

Can't go with that mate, there was a hell of a lot of Newcy 606 members in the old days. Like I said and like I said to them then, anywhere, anytime if they really got on my tits, something that hasn't happened here but I'm not involved here much now..

I won't even bother responding to Cest's post as it is filled with such inane drivel, being called a sick social misfit by someone who made up that he felt his daughter was being a victim of paeodophilia just to win an argument is not on imo and I'm amazed more action isn't taken against him as it was against me. Even the needless abuse towards me since I started again with a new username has been bag out of order. I refuse to discuss anything with him until he admits his own faults.

 

I'm tolerant on any fans posting constructive comments and genuine banter- but their bitching comments along with their incessant banal remarks and seemingly 24/7 presence on this board is perplexing.

It seems hard to have any article too which they do not want to give us their learned opinion on.

P.S. It is rather satisfying seeing Cheik post but not reading them, like a wasp headbutting a window from the outside trying to get in to sting me.

 

Just ban the simple cretin anita/chiek and this forum will improve overnight.

 

Like I say mate, if you want something removed, PM me it, if it is inflammatory, i'll remove it, after all, this IS the Sunderland board.

What I won't do, is remove something simply because of the author, that's just bollocks.

 

or simply ban you and watch the forum become a lot more civil, and see a lot more constructive debate between mags and mackems overnight?
