I watched the FL show last night + it was the same story in loads of grounds. Usually happens at the start of the season - crowds tend to increase from end of September onward particularly if a team has had a good start to the season.

Derby, Leicester and Nottm Forest all got over 20,000 yesterday- not bad for 3 teams fighting for the same floating fans. Don't they have holidays down there?

It was the third worst attendance in the league, only Millwall and Barnsley got less, it's really disappointing.

Everyone is also forgetting we are coming off the back of two major tournaments - im sure a lot of people spent money travelling down to the olympics etc. Football isnt on everybodys mind just yet.

I'm one of those who did not make the game, due to holidays.

I cant wait to see the view from the West Stand. Is the recession to blame for low attendances or are some just holding back to see how Bruce does?

If we keep playing an attacking brand of football with the silky skills of Aluko on display, then the stay away fans will return. Last season was boring.

I don't think the price rise helped at all, I thought the AA said a while ago that football should be free to watch and that was his plan to give free football to the people of Hull?

Worst opening game attendance since 2003 apparently.

I'm not sure it's got a lot to do with a price increase, or holidays.

I just think it's because a lot of our fans are ****e.

Derby get massive crowds because they give away tickets left right and centre. If you go into derby town centre you can get a free season ticket if you take out a new mobile phone contract in one of the phone shops. They also give away a lot of tickets to the local schools. The yanks who own the club are desperate to get the numbers up and generate interest in the club

I doubt that's the same reason why many thousands of others didn't turn up.

Most wouldn't have turned up because they couldn't have been bothered to fill their backpacks with pack-up.

A couple of results, and they might. I believe it is mainly THOSE fans who are staying away at the moment.

Agree with this. Hate it when fans get slated for not renewing passes when they have families to consider, especially young children. I've been a season ticket holder for 10 years and haven't renewed this season as we have a baby due soon. Not all of us can afford 400 on a season ticket plus the match day outlay season on season. Doesn't make us **** fans!!

    Read post above yours.

Who mentioned anyone's babies? That won't account for the vast majority of non-attendees.

The most part will be those who feel like they have to be convinced its worth their while turning up.

Eg, have to feel like we're gonna win or there's no point.

If we win a few, it'll change.

That's what I'm saying. Stop jumping to defensive conclusions.

I usually buy 4 season passes, 2 adult, 1 child and an oap pass for my girlfriends dad, we received the letter from the ticket office explaining that pass prices may increase by 12-15%, when in fact, my 2 adult passes went up by 28.3% , an extra £85 on each pass, so I,ve not renewed the pass my girlfriend had but was mainly used by friends when she decided that she,d had enough of the moaning barmby hater that used to sit behind us.
I contacted the ticket office about the price rise asking for an explanation as why it had risen so much, when the letter stated the 12-15% rise, this was nearly 3 months ago and still no reply.
Whilst I,m grateful to the Allams for what they,ve done for the club, their blatant disregard to supporters is still something that needs addressing, their promise of cheaper tickets at the kc seems a long long way off right now.

The five year Premier Club memberships are up for renewal in December, if they've gone up significantly, then things could get even worse.

I got laid off in January and have only just managed to afford it. I just think its a alot of factors. Inceased in prices, holidays, people have spent money going to the Euro's and Olympics and the way Barmby was sacked,
