    Hi all,

Never made a thread before so please be nice.:bandit:

It seems pretty clear from the noises coming from Pardew that we will be starting with a shadow team in Greece (and its common sense really- ****ing FA!) With that in mind, who are you all most lookng forward to seeing/ hoping to see play? Personally I hope Marveaux shows up this time and gives it to the Greeks with both barrells. Also hope Adam Capmbell gets a run out.

    Thoughts? <ok>

    --------Shola-------

    Marv---Amalfitano---Obertan

    ----Anita-----Abied---

    Raylor--Perch-Willo--Tav

    ----------Harper-------------

I'd not play Colo in this game, but I'm not sure about Good either. Perch again for me. Colo for Chelsea.

    We need another CB!

Campbell getting a game would make an incredible headline, not sure if he's quite there yet but sometimes it pays to take risks, he could be our breakthrough player this season.

Tash's team looks fairly accurate and as much as curiosity would see me rooting for more young 'uns, I don't think we can weaken our team too much, I don't care what league they're from, any club in Europe is there on merit and will give us a good game.

If we beat the 8-0 I will come back and edit my post so you can't quote my humility. <ok>

I've heard from good source marv is injured again !

If it turns out to be true that's pretty disappointing coz when fit he seems a really decent player

We need to put a fairly strong team out, can't afford to be complacent.

The Wizard has some decent intel IMHO so I'm guessing your 'FFS' is more about the disappointment in seeing another injury...

    ---------------Harper
    Tavernier-Williamson-Perch-Ferguson
    Amalfitano-Gosling-Anita-Marveaux
    -----------Obertan-Vuckic

This is assuming Colo will be fine for Chelsea. Obertan and Vuckic aren't strikers I know, but it might be the only option we have. I'd give Campbell a run-out but wouldn't start him

Shola wasn't on the bench after tweaking his thigh in the warm-up and must be doubtful for what would be a likely starting spot in Athens on Thursday.

Could really do without having to play Atromitos at home on the 2cnd Sep too.

Fortunately we do have soome good youngsters like Campbell who'll do a good job for us. Be good experience for them too.

I like Tashs side with Fergie instead of Obertan, or Marv if he is indeed injured again. Such a shame if true but if its the groin again we'll have to start to consider his future if it happens much more. We can't carry his wages against some forlorn hope. Naturally I'd like to see Campbell involved if we get ahead and young Bigismalls.

I'd go with a 3-5-2 formation. Greeks are so predictable with their defensive game.

    Cissé - Ba

    Santon - Anita - Cabaye - Tiote - HBA

    Sailor - Williamson - Simpson

Whisper it quietly, but with Shola injured and Ba and Cisse likely to be rested, could this means the possible return of everyone's favourite London gangster?

Little chance of this Cove, we have Chelsea 46 hours later! It'll be mainly back up lads I imagine. We should have enough to get some sort of result.

No chance he said in a recent interview that he would not play for the club again while he is manager. I'd hazard a guess he hasn't come back with any better an attitude. Just a clown, plenty of ability and funnily enough would have been considered for these type of games but his ego is in the way

HA, that's a dumb move for the FA. Out here in The Netherlands, our FA gives the clubs that play EL a break, and let's them play on Sunday to recover.

The FA don't get involved unfortunately, the PL is like a law unto itself. I agree though, its problematic and not helpful at all. Its one of the many reasons PL players rock up at major tournaments looking at about 80%. They get a flogging all year round. We asked UEFA to help us but like the PL they stood firm. Its almost like the clubs are punished for doing well the previous season.

Heck, I remember 2 years ago when Ajax played Auxerre, the French FA gave Auxerre the weekend off to prepare for the CL game!

Generally we will get till the sunday to recover, but ESPN have taken the Chelsea game so the PL have no choice.

Team which is likely to start imo...

    ---------Elliott----------
    Tav--Willo---Good--Raylor
    Marv--Abeid-Bigi-Fergy
    -------Vuckic---------
    ------Campbell---------

Provided Marv is fit, Good may not play, but dunno who else would go in. Fergy is another one, potentially replaced by Obertan or Sammy. If Shola is fit he may also start just for experience. Pards seems to pick Elliott over Harps in cup games, though maybe this year one will do Europe and one Domestic.
