I'm disappointed as everyone else but from what I've heard from some of the 'Liverpool fans' about Rodgers needing to go is just ridiculous. Its been only 1 game and to be honest we had a good first half up until the point Gera scored the first goal. The referees decisions about the penalties turned the game for me. The second penalty definitely shouldnt have been given. The problem is the lads will need time to get used to this style of play and there will be games like this throughout the season but lets not get too depressed about this result as remember last season Arsenal had a really bad start to the season and still ended up in the top 4...all is not lost. Looking at the squad I think we need another striker who can finish. I've said this time and time again we really need a finisher someone like Higuain because lets face it Suarez isn't the best at finishing, he creates a whole load of chances but has difficulty finishing. I think Allen played well, Gerrard needs to be a little more forward to have more of an effect on the game. Players that I just cant back up anymore are Downing, Cole and Adam: Downing was awful, Cole is always getting injured and is lacking match fitness and Adam cant play football that well. We need to get Adam Johnson, he should be our number one target, Dempsey would be a great signing as well and would suit the system well. What are your thoughts?
My thoughts are that some players need time to adjust and some players will never adjust. Rodgers has 2 weeks to get the latter group the **** out of our club and bring in a couple more faces
Humm. Lets hope we get a reaction against City. Not happy, but its early days - Rome wasn't built in a day.
Totally agree, the only problem is the high-ish wages these players are on. It is so frustrating watching Downing I just want him out of the team. Adam Johnson on the left hand side would provide so much more he would actually take on some defenders and cross the ball. To be honest I hope we keep Carroll we will need a Plan B and i think he deserves a chance to see if he can fit into the system Rodgers wants to play. Transfers Out (I hope and wish): Downing, Adam, Cole, Spearing Transfers In: A.Johnson, Dempsey, Sahin (hopefully but afc seems to be his preferred target atm)
Wanting BR out is utterly crazy and I am not happy about today, I have never been one to shout for the manager to b out, I still, think Rafa should be there. Yes the team needs time to gel. We need to stop blaming Dowd as those penalties have been given before and they will be again although idf they were pens then we should have had one when their player fell on kelly. Our main problem is what do we do to improve before we face city? Do we need to improve before city if it was just bit of luck and ref decisions then maybe just give everyone another go. Trying to remain calm just worrying times particularly with what happened last night with youth setup.
In a way the next three games are no pressure games as we are not expected to win them like we were expected to win today's game. In my opinion I prefer us as the underdogs as we play and perform much better in the big games. If we can get 5 or 7 (7 being a little optimistic) points out of 9 in the next 3 games (draw against City and draw/win against Arsenal and beat United ) then start moving on and get settled into the style of play then we have a chance of the top 4. The next three or four weeks will be very interesting to see.
We were bad... even when the better team. No excuses and this is where br needs to prove his mettle... tell the team they were not good enough... but not isolate them. Sure ref was a little unfair but that happens... especially on the road. Need to win even when cards are against us. All that said as bad as we were... I agree on calls for calm... as the song says "rock bottom is good solid ground... and a dead end street is just a place to turn around." We will improve... first competative game against a league team... first game for one player... gerrard had a skocker... Lucas not fit... cards against us... Today was ugly... tomorrow will be better... our season will be defined by how much we improve... we will get better... right now we don't know how much or how quick... sit back ans watch the show.
Here's my thoughts. 1. Gerrard. He was anonymous and should have been replaced at half time. There cannot be special treatment for anyone. If they don't perform, they have to be hooked, no matter who they are. 2. Joe Allen. Why did he start? He's new to the club, he's only being training for a week, wouldn't it have been wiser to start Shelvey who has been there and knows the role? Joe Allen could have made a cameo late on. 3. Pepe not being as commanding as he nornally is. Pepe Reina's decision making in the game was pretty poor. His commanding of the area was also pretty poor. Not his best performance by a long way. 4. Changing things early. Andy Carroll should have been brought on far earlier. Probably when 1-0 down, he's effective defensively and he's a threat at the other end. 5. The penalty decisions. At least one wasn't a penalty. The sending off itself was a bit harsh too. Then again Suarez' finishing wasn't exactly on the button now either. He had a number of guilt edged chances.
Looks like it's gonna be the Dalglish saga all over again. Oh well, will be a laugh for the rest of us
He was worse than anonymous- he was a liability... he got the ball plenty- and kept passing it straight to the opposition... That was very uncharacteristic of him.
Just been abused on the way home by a 13 year old ginger manc and various people beeping their horns at me and my mate. Not the best of days, that will be all from me today.
Your new manager is to easy to read can't do a plan b, can't see why Mr D was dumped great guy everyone respected!
