    Your missing the point. It's not about why he left, it's about whilst he was here he was on very high wages and didn't contribute anything to the team. If anything it's for the best he left.

    I imagine the club did want him gone, its the fact that he took almost £40 million for **** all return. To miraculously return the week of an England squad announcement and to put **** all effort in when he was supposed to be captain of the side.

    As someone else mentioned you all mock shearer for choosing to be loyal over greed and join us and yet you cant appreciate all he has done for England/football in general and yet you cant respect the fact he's a legend?

    He was on 110k a week , missed several huge chances (Blackburn and Pompey at home spring to mind) and was injured all the time. Obviously he had to go when we went down! Did he expect us to pay him 110k in the fizzy pop? Would he take a pay cut? No.

    Also , was appointed captain during our relegation run in. Never acted like a captain and rarely spoke to the fans.


    So to sum it up : Owen is a ****ing bellend.

    If he stayed on, took a pay-cut(to his massive 110k or so wages) and helped us get promoted from the Championship then he would've probably still had been at the club NOW. Same with Duff, Martins and Beye who all jumped ship when the going was tough and they were in most of our matches were they ****ing put in lacklustre performances which got us relegated.

    Owen can **** off with his ****ing horses. <ok>
