Summer signing Steven Naismith is in line for his competitive debut against Manchester United on Monday. The former Rangers player is one of two arrivals at Goodison Park so far, with midfielder Steven Pienaar returning from Tottenham. Marouane Fellaini (groin) and fellow midfielder Darron Gibson (thigh) have both recovered from injury.

Robin van Persie goes straight into the Manchester United squad. Last season's Golden Boot winner completed his move from Arsenal in time to beat the registration deadline, although after a lack of match practice, may be on the bench. Shinji Kagawa could also make his debut but Sir Alex Ferguson has problems in defence where Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans (both foot) and Phil Jones (back) are all ruled out.

Everton away is a tough game so we need to be on our guard and ensure we get the 3 points so we can get off to a good start to the new league season. Looking forward to see RVP and Kagawa play their first competitive game for the club and see how they adapt to their new surroundings.

    Prediction - Everton 1 - 3 United

    Come on you Reds!

This thread is poor in comparison to matths in-depth analysis.

I'm sure he made this match thread back in march?!

With Fellaini and Gibson looking like they may not be fully fit and without Rodwell to replace either of them, plus the loss of Cahill, I think it will be 3-0 to United with Rooney, Kagawa and RVP grabbing the goals.

I think it could be a tight game, maybe even a 1-1 draw. I will go a bit against that though and go for 2-0 win with Rooney scoring first and Kagawa getting one on debut.

Optimism is buzzing around Everton at the moment with us having one of best transfer windows in years (not that difficult). Trust me when I say we certainly won't miss Cahill (gone off the boil for two years before he left, though I do love him) nor will we miss Rodwell(never played)

I think we will line up...

    --------------------------Howard----------------------
    ---Hibbert-------Jagielka-----------Heitinga-----Baines--
    -----------------Gibson--------Osman------------------
    -----Naismith----------Fellaini-------------Pienaar-------
    ----------------------Jelavic----------------------------

Under the flood lights at home on the first match of the season I think there could be something special in the air but no doubt your squad has talent in abundance(maybe bar the defence).

I think 1-1 with Fellaini and Rooney scoring. Enjoy the game lads <cheers>

Thought Fella and Agent Gibbo were both doubtful with injuries?

I agree, I think this one will be tight. I would be happy with a draw, tough game and a long way to go.

No doubt will be tight but going with 2-0 to us, nani and Rooney to score.

    --------------------------De Gea----------------------
    ---Valencia-------Carrick-----------Vidic-----Evra--
    -----------------Scholes--------Anderson------------------
    -----Nani----------------Rooney-------------Kagawa-------
    ------------------------Van Persie-------------------------

Reckon thats how we will line up. If rio is fit then swap him with Anderson and then with Carrick. Other wise thats my guess at the line up.
