With all the furore surrounding Rangers being booted out and thrown into the 3rd Division, and the SPL losing money etc, it suddnely dawned on me that we probably stnad to lose the most. 2x Rangers games now gone, replaced by 2x Dundee games.... The others can at least still say they have derbies to rely on... Inverness v Ross County (at least 3 times) should be bigger gates than they normally get. Hibs v Hearts (enough said) (OK they would have had them anyway but if Hibs get into top 6 they'll have 1 extra than they did last year) Dundee v Dundee Utd (better gates than usual)....Haven't had them for years. These teams will still have their derbies. We have Killie v St Mirren!!!!!! Great How's about Michael Johnston in his capacity of doing whats best for the club and get the A*rshire derby revived. 10-12K at RP would make up the shortfall ( at least in part). Thoughts??
I think Celtic might argue otherwise, they have lost arguably one of the biggest derby games in the world, as well as a real challenge for the title. But agree MJ should be pushing the boat out to get the Ayrshire cup match renewed. However beating a second div part time outfit isnt quite as satysing - more risk that reward!!
