I know, this has nothing to do with us but I daren't put it on the Swansea board lest I be labelled a WUM, which I'm not... Mind you I'd love to. Anyway, what with Sinclair now seemingly on his way out it strikes me that there might be real unrest at the caravan park. Furthermore, I have it on good authority that the staff at Liberty Stadium cannot stand Michael Laudrup. For some reason he's not well liked at all. It's not clear whether this applies to the players as well but no doubt this will become clearer. Also, of course, is difficult second season syndrome. I'm not saying that the Jacks are going down but it's going to be very interesting to see how things develop there. I persuaded myself to enjoy their presence in the Premiership last year but I came across so many incredibly smug fans that I'd take no small amount of pleasure in watching them fall apart this year. SOme fans behave as though the success of their team is in some way down to them personally. Bit weird, those Jacks. Self-esteem problems is you ask me.
Whatever the issue its got sod all to do with us. The only winner I see at the end of this season is Ty Hafan, can,t wait to collect the money from our neighbours down the M4. Champions league... your having a larf...
Well i for one think, if we go up this year i hope they stay there so that there is 2 Welsh sides in the EWPL.
I will take no pleasure at all in seeing them relegated this season. They are a Welsh club in the Premier league, and we should get behind that. I am all for sporting rivalry, but when you wish ill-will on other teams, it becomes something else. Unfortunately, with the summer's developments I can't see any other way but down for them.
It's okay to have a bit of banter with our cousins but in my heart I hope they can stay up this season.
Never wish relegation on any club or it's fans. If the rumours are true would Huw Jenkins decide to change managers so close to the season beginning?
i like him, up front, tells it how it is, no bullshit. if the players dont like him theres no issue unless they start losing games on the trot..
There is a degree of arogance amongst many swans on their board, 'top 10 finish', 'lots of teams worse than us', etc, but that's no different to most clubs. There is a sense of trying to run beofre they can walk, but there is lots of optomism on our board regarding promotion. Everyone has their own opinions. Not particularly interested in the problems they may have, more interested in how well we do. As others have said, if they stay up so be it, if they don't, no hardship for me. It would be nice for a PL derby though!
Yikes, I'm not sure I can cope with all this good will towards our neighbours. I too have been eager to see them do well (but not too well) and would love to see the derby again in 13/14. I do feel that they may struggle. I'm torn between good will and schadenfreude.
Agree with a lot of the sentiments on in this thread. I wouldn't wish relegation on a club but certain individual fans (of any club) can quickly make make you wish the worst on them. Don't know much about Laudrup as a manager, he was an incredible player imo and knows exactly how the game should be played. The fans are obviously right to trust Huw as he's done them proud with his apointments up until now. It's got to be better for Welsh football if they stay in the Prem and 2 welsh PL clubs would be even better. A PL derby is something we'd all love to see. I also agree I think it could be a very difficult season for them. The 2nd season is always tough, no one will underestimate them this season, a few key players gone replaced by promising but unproven at PL level players. It doesn't matter how good they've been in Spain, the PL is unique, they might thrive on the pace of it, they might hate the transition in football and life styles. But in the end I'll care alot more about how Blackpool, Bolton, Blackburn, Wolves, Brum, Leic etc. get on this weekend than anything the Jacks do
your right there hilts and swansea being one of em for me saying that i must explain myself swansea as a football club i show no ill feeling and wish them all the best........tiz just a pity some of the ******s that follow em cant be relegated 2 conference football. glamorgan i dont think many have played football and won things 2 feel what it`s like on a personal level 2 achieve so they gotta jump on the bandwagon for any kind success, even tho its someone elses <sad but true> mickey loud drop isnt liked....what a shame
Even if they get relegated next season (partly I'd prefer they didn't, as I still look forward to an all Welsh clash in the Premiership), they will be in a better financial position than any other relegated club I can remember, and odds on to come back up with so much financial clout. The fascinating thing about the whole Jacks situation (for me) is that they have spent hardly any cash since going up. Then they got near £3 million in compo for Rodgers, plus £15 million for Joe Allen (who they could probably buy back in eighteen months time for half that amount). Huw Jenkins has done an amazing job of keeping the cash in the kitty - as the only 'big' signing (if you can call it that) was Danny Graham! Even if they get just a couple of million for Sinclair they're well ahead - as they only paid £500,000 for him years ago. They could also have a bigger stadium than us in three years time - perhaps this is what the money is being kept back for.
Iggy It's called astute financial management. Huw didn't get where he is today......etc. Mind you Sinclair won't be going to Liverpool as they have just signed a Moroccan winger. I think the papers said Man City might want him but that could just be paper talk. Whatever happens there it will be interesting but we are not obsessed with them, are we?????
Glad there's a few Cardiff supporters that don't actually want us relegated. While we are bitter rivals, and say we despise eachother, I find it sad that as fellow Welshmen/Women, some people would want a Welsh side relegated from the top flight. Remote, I don't think it's arrogance mate. It's more confdence. I myself think my team is better than a number of Premier League teams, and I can't see why we can't finish tenth. But, I can see how it may come across as arrogance with the way some people word it. At the end of the day, we are both Welsh clubs, and I think it would be awesome to let the English witness the big Welsh derby in the top flight. So, I will be keeping a keen eye on your results this season, and I sincerely hope, that should you only get the play-offs, you lose the "bottler" stamp and go that one step further. Here's to a great season in Swansea and Cardiff. Up the WELSH!
Well thank FCUK i never put this thread up!!!!!!!!!!!! Mind you i said this about 2 weeks ago with the fighting at a training ground plus player power................;O)
With regards to the ML situation, there is no unrest. It's a stupid rumour posted by some pillock with nothing better to do. I'v been down the training ground this week on a day off, and the players were getting on very well with ML.
