I will apologise in advance if this reads like a rant!! My other half and I want to get season tickets for next season. If memory serves then the ticket prices are starting to be courted in feb and then the offers in April. As we hadnââ¬â¢t heard anything we phoned the club at the beginning of April to see if there was anything in the pipeline and if they were going to reintroduce the payment plan. We were told that season ticket prices would not be announced until the league we are going to play in next season in is secured. On the face of it I could understand this to a point and maybe even thought it was ââ¬Ënormalââ¬â¢ for clubs in our position. My skate loving boyfriend and I went to watch the (insert your own names) against Cardiff yesterday, the reason I mention this is, we are comparable in our league positions and likelihood of promotion. Cardiff have already announced their season ticket prices for next season, moreover their early bird discount ends tomorrow and donââ¬â¢t get me started on ticket prices!! The reason I think it has got my hackles up is we are supposedly a club that appreciates the fan base yet the club is showing no loyalty to 1, fans that have committed to league one tickets with no promise of promotion and 2, fans that want to show a commitment to the future of the club regardless of league. What do other people think? Am I being unreasonable? I am a woman after all
Of course it's understandable on the club's point of view. They put high prices out now and we don't get promotion then people will moan. Have some patience FFS.
Personally I'm not bothered. I'm much more focused on the next 3 weeks, than anything beyond that. Unless they're of a stupidly high price, I'll be renewing my season ticket next season regardless of the division we're in - and whether that price structure was released in March or until in July, I'm really not bothered. (PS. Not entirely sure that your article warranted swearing as a response above).
Understandable that we have to wait until we know the league we're in. NC is a businessman and will set the price for the good of the club. I would rather pay more per ticket than get into financial trouble again. I no longer have young children but am in favour of good offers for families because they are the future. Anyone who thinks the price won't go up for the Championship and Prem lives in cloud cuckoo land.
I assume that NC will still have a limited period for existing season ticket holders to buy at a reduced rate ahead of the general sale so no need to stress yet. As said, let's worry about the next 3 weeks first, enjoy them, then worry about next season whatever league we are in. Here's hoping it's the Championship though!!
No different to last season, Season tickets only went on sale then in June. Other clubs only put their season ticket prices and offers out early to get cash in the door ahead of the close season because they need it ahead of two months without matchday income. Why the hell are you going out with a Skate? Is there something wrong with you?
I work with two Skates. Apparently, you are not allowed to discriminate against them. The world has gone mad ;-)
I think my point was missed; the point was Cardiff are on the verge of going into the premiership, slightly bigger than the championship, and they have announced their season ticket prices. Cheaper than ours even from last season! I get that at the end of the day the club is a business and I do remember the premiership, I also remember the prices we had to pay for tickets! I make no apologies for having concerns over ticket pricing, at the end of last season we were still in league one and the season ticket price was approaching ã400, we are potentially (fingers crossed) going to be in the championship next season, so yet another price raise. Living 150 miles from SMS adds other considerations to ticket pricing. I will bow to your memory of season ticket announcements, I thought it was earlier but I will stand corrected. However I seem to remember last season there were issues with Saints leaving the announcement of season ticket prices so late, I formed this opinion from talking to friends in Southampton and reading other forums. I didn’t say I went out in public with the other half :-D As to what is wrong with me……..I don’t think I have enough time to go into it ;-)
The only issue from last season was a handful of noisy people claiming they would never buy a season ticket without a payment plan... and we ended up with MORE season ticket holders than the previous season. Our ticket prices are in line with most clubs and a helluva lot cheaper than Pompey. I was shocked the other day to find out it costs ã8 to watch non league Sholing play. I think watching league 1 professionals in a good stadium averaging ã15 a game is pretty good value compared to that.
I think your main rant was fuelled by Cardiff, right? Have their ST prices gone up from last season? If they have then would you like ours to go up and be announced now? Whether we go up or not? If Cardiff do not get promoted with inflated ST prices their fans are not going to be best pleased. Or, if their prices have remained the same then fair play to them. Up or down, their fans get a deal, right? But as a business, have they done the right thing? You will never please everyone.
From what I can make of it their season ticket price has remained the same for the last two seasons; ã345 which is lower than ours. We are the lower team in this comparison. I really do understand that football is just a business, to some. It seems to me that they want their cake and to eat it, when they announced the anniversary shirt last season they made a show if it being for the fans, "Fans will notice the shirt is without a commercial sponsor after our Chairman, Nicola Cortese, decided to give the kit back to the fans in celebration". (http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2068557,00.html) I can't imagine that they would lose any more money from announcing ticket price this early than not having a sponsor. Maybe I am just naive to believe that the fans are actually important. I think I will retract to lurking and just rant at the telly!
Spot of info, please. Do the away club get a cut of the tickets they sell, to cover costs etc. Just curious.
I really don't get the point of this thread. Any other club would love to be in our position not needing to issue season tickets as early as possible because they are desperate for cash. If you waiting to budget for the summer, then just put the price of this year's season ticket aside and add on 5% to cover the VAT rise and any expected uplift by Saints. You won't be far off the final price. No, its many fans who want their cake and eat it. They want cheap tickets and the club to buy new players at the same time.
