Fryatt is a major doubt, Dawson is definitely out, but Evans might just make it. I assume it will be(assuming Aluko isn't available)... -------------Amos Rosenior Chester Faye Dudgeon Stewart McKenna Cairney Koren -----Proschwitz Mclean Jakupović Bruce McShane Simpson Evans Townsend Devitt Personally, I'd stick Koren in the middle and Simpson alongside Prozzy, with either Cariney or Mclean out wide(we really do need another winger).
Where did the Fryatt thing come from? I haven't heard that. Assuming he and Aluko and are out I'd go with the team OLM posted, but with Simpson in for McLean. Whats going on with Olifinjana by the way? Is he injured or what? Also I know people don't like Koren on the wing but playing Cairney there would be a worse idea, his strengths are specifically moving the ball around from deep in midfield, he doesn't beat men or anything so he wouldn't be much use on the wing at all. Koren's abilities are more transferable between positions.
Far too many niggles for this time of year. What's the squad going to look like in March when they've all got 30-40 games in their legs?
Fryatt has an Achilles problem. Oli played in a behind closed doors game on Tuesday, but isn't ready for first team action(I think he's probably on his way anyway).
Really hope we're in for Chris Wood, or another striker who can score over 10 goals at this level. With Fryatt out, and Proschwitz still getting up to speed with English football, I still think we're a decent option short in attack, as well as out wide.
FIFA have to grant temporary international clearance to allow him to play until his contract dispute with Rangers is resolved (that all the players leaving Rangers this summer have had to deal with), and FIFA are ****ing useless at doing anything in a sensible timescale. We know from the other players who've already been given it that he'll get it, but it's pen pushers in Zurich.
Confirmation from the OWS... Matty Fryatt has emerged as an injury doubt ahead of the Tigers’ npower Championship opener against Brighton on Saturday. The striker is struggling with an Achilles problem picked up in last weekend’s Capital One Cup tie against Rotherham United and is giving manager Steve Bruce cause for concern. “Matty’s got a bit of an Achilles injury at the moment and he’s not comfortable with it,” said Bruce. “We’ve got one or two other issues at the moment as well which we hope will iron themselves out, but that’s where we are at the moment.” Bruce will at least be able to add Corry Evans to his options after the Northern Ireland international returned to training this week having missed most of pre-season with a hamstring problem, and Seyi Olofinjana could also be added to the squad. Andy Dawson looks set to remain sidelined with a thigh problem. Sone Aluko’s competitive debut for the club looks set to be delayed again with international clearance still to be granted following his summer departure from Rangers and although paperwork has now been completed to give goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic the green light to start his competitive Tigers career, that start could be held up by a hamstring problem he picked up in training today.
Could we not start Jay Simpson upfront? I think this could be a golden game for him; if he scores one and is on form; we could have a virtual brand new signing in him alone!
