    All done and dusted. Pardew comments below.

    "We are delighted to secure the services of Vurnon," said Pardew.

    "He is an exceptionally talented footballer with great technical ability, which is exactly what I'm looking at in a player. And, at 23-years-old, we hope his best years are at Newcastle.

    "He has come through the Ajax youth system which is world renowned for bringing up players the right way, and I am sure he will fit seamlessly into the squad of players we have here.

    "Vurnon has done his pre-season, and indeed already played one competitive game, so he's up to speed and ready to play when I need him."

    Good signing, hopefully we can add a couple more. Shaping up for an exciting time for us.

    According to David Craig's (yes, I know) sources its been done at 6 million Euros. Which shows that our transfer strategy works in the long run, given that apparently we were quoted 8 million a few weeks ago.

    Don't believe it, Anita personally confirmed the 8,5 million transfer fee and it will go up with bonusses and clauses.

    I had never heard of him due to my ignorance of most leagues other than those in England, but thanks to some comments by Cove and what will now be a wasted afternoon looking up youtube clips, I am confident we have a good player for our money!

    Great signing but I bet you all my life he is on the bench on Saturday because that's Pardews style. He would upset the likes of Gosling etc and risk losing if he did also.

    I agree here, its just not his style. It took Pardew about 6 months to realise Ben Arfa deserved a starting spot.

    I see where you're coming from but whereas he eased HBA and (attempted to) Marv, Anita is fully fit and ready to go. The likes of Gosling, Vuckic and Mouthful won't be daft enough to think they're ahead of Anita in Pardew's thinking. Had he been put in ahead of Tiote and Cabaye I'd understand players being a bit miffed but he will at very least be our third best CM.

    If I was picking this team I'd play a 4-3-1-2. Have two holding mids with Cabeye letting Ben Arfa play free.
