    Hmmm.

I've never had any real feelings about Everton or their fans, except very mild fellow feeing for supporters of a once great club that hasn't won anything in living memory.

oh, and always thought they were a bit dull

    Depressing reading.

A few years ago I was in a pub in Windsor. Pub was busy so my friend and I squeezed on to a half-full table. The 3 people sat there were scousers and all was well and jokey until they discovered I was a Geordie (I don't have a strong accent). The smiles drained from their faces "We hate people from Newcastle". I was like "WTF???" I tried to point the irrational nature of what they were saying (I'm part Welsh, part Scot, part Cockney if you go back to grandparents), but they weren't having it, got all sulky and left.

Ignorant scouse bastards I hate them all.

Meh a hand full of Evertoninans so not to bothered, but the points they make are half arsed.

Yeah we had supporters who got a bit above themselves when we were doing well and came down with a bump when we got relegated. I think most (not all ) supporters are pretty well grounded now with a realistic view of what to expect and just want to see us dong well like most supporters do.

As for the big club argument, we are big on support but nothing else, it's always the media, players or managers calling us a big club. I've never seen or heard a toon fan call us a big club and to be honest I'm bored with that whole argument.
We aren't a big club until we are competing at the top end of the table for European spots and we actually win something, until then were are just a well supported club.
And one argument was the media loved us, your fukin joking, as soon as things go wrong they'll
be kicking us just like they did when we went down and helped to turn the footballing nation against us making us a bigger laughing stock than what we already were. It's only cause things are ticking over nicely and they can't really pick faults that we are left alone.

    Rant over.

<laugh> I find it amusing more than anything else. One just how inaccurate and made up their whines are, but mainly because this bitterness/chip on the shoulder all comes from living in their neighbours shadow. Well apart from a little spell in the 80's. i wonder if they think they are a big club? Silly boys and girls.

What's the test for a big club ?

    I'd go with:

Mention your team to an average footy fan from another country and see if he knows the name/anything about the club.

On this basis, Juventus is a big club. Roma/Napoli might or might not be. Calgiari. Atalanta, Sampdoria aren't.

I'm not sure what our status is according to this test, but would guess Roma/Napoli

I reckon most would know us better than Everton to be honest. They don't seem to like it but we have pretty recent European experience. Through the late 90's and 2000's we we pretty much in Europe year on year. A few of them CL with visits to Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona and a few other top European names. You only have to listen to any new foreign signings, they all know quite a bit about us before coming.

In all honesty who gives a **** what they think of us, its their chip to carry around

I've always quite liked Everton as a team and Moyes as a manager. They seem to be run in the correct way and play decent football.

I'm a bit disappointed by this tbh :emoticon-0106-cryin

And to think If it hadn't being for us driving the price up, they'd have only gotten £12 mil for Rooney

Honestly, I've always just thought of Everton as another club who are just there. Like Fulham. They never really challenge up at the top, but are never in real relegation battles. They're neither a fixture I look forward to or dread. My feelings towards them are pretty neutral all in all <laugh>

I'm ****ting myself for when Gateshead make it to league two/one (it's coming) as by the logic of some our attendances will drop to about 20k being a 'two team city' like all those other big clubs with smaller fanbases than us. <ok>

Their comments are just popluarist ignorance mainly. Most of the 'opinions' put forward are straight out of tabloid stereotypes and they go on to say they pretty much hate every other club in existence. This says nothing about Newcastle United, Newcastle fans, Geordies or even Evertonians. It just says that the majority of people who posted in that thread are ignorant mouthpeices for the tabloid press - nothing to get worked up about.

I live in Liverpool and would say most Evertonians I know are decent enough but couldn't tell you much about Newcastle, or most other cities for that matter. Tend to have lived in Liverpool all their lives (and there's nothing wrong with that) but it means they base their opinions on what they see on Sky and read in the papers.

To be fair I'll be the first to admit that 90% of the time I'm wrong with my Newcastle predictions. Not denying that I thought we'd lose to Stoke last year but I thought they were better than they actually were.
