Do we need another striker? Is it that important?

I know we have the ACoN that will take them away from us for a month or so.

But think about most other clubs in this division. How many of them have 3 quality strikers? Lets count... Man City, and.... erm... well no one else!

We have two fantastic strikers, we have attacking mids that can weigh in with goals and assists, and we have a great center forward in Shola, who may not score often, but he plays a big part in moves that leads to goals, and is a great person to have in your squad.

I think we could do with another striker, if we get that far in Europe and need one, but look at Spurs! They have no strikers, and even if they got a fantastic one in, they'll still have to manage without him in a lot of games, due to Europa League.

I think with the way things are, maybe we should not worry about bringing in another striker right now, because we have far better quality in that position than nearly all other teams, and we can try and buy someone in Jan maybe.

"Shola, who may not score often,"

no, but he takes a mean penalty, does our Shola, well better than our other strikers at the minute

Yeah, but if Ba and Cisse were out, if you put Shola up front with a couple of attacking mids supporting, I reckon there's a goal or two there!

What we need is a good striker, not another world-beater as Ba/Cisse are or could be, with reasonably low wages, but who is a similar player to Ba and Cisse so we don't have to adapt our style when they aren't there. British or Irish would be good, so he would be home-grown and help in that respect.

If you can't tell by this point, I have just perfectly described Leon Best...

We don't need to spend any more than a few million, certainly not what we bid for De Jong (or the mackems for Fletcher <laugh>).

We absolutely, positively and definitely NEED another striker.

Of course we know Ba and Cisse and the quality they possess, but we could lose them in AcON and with Shola's past with injuries and of course the fact that hes not very good means we would be lucky to get through the AcON without playing 4-6-0.

I think one more striker would probably be enough for the season but I wouldn't mind a fairly high profile striker and a youngster to come in and bolster the ranks a bit more.

With the extra games in cups and Europa, I really can't see 3 strikers (one of them being Shola) lasting the season. It makes sense to bring new ones in, we may get lucky with injuries, but why take the risk, its an important season.

I suppose, but we the 2nd best club, in terms of quality up front, and we can't have it all perfect.

I think we should sign a decent striker, but I don't see why people think we need to sign one right now. We could wait until the Jan transfer window/.

Everyone is overpriced in January I think. Plus clubs might charge more if they know that e are desperate for a striker

Aye, but why not bring one in now? More time to settle in and play ahead of January. Then we wont even have the worry about not having enough up front at all.

Then again if the right target isn't available at this time I wouldn't be completely opposed to waiting till Jan I suppose.

One thing crossed mind the other day, Shola 'committed his international future' to Nigeria. Or has something changed?

Now, I know it's really not likely, but it's 'possible' we could be down 3 strikers for the ACoN. Just saying.

I agree, In a way. I think we've dug ourselves a bit of a hole by signing two African strikers.

But I don't understand why we seem to be after quality strikers. De Jong, Guidetti. Wtf?

All we need is a canny striker, that can finish off a move, and play in our formation. We don't need to spend a **** load of cash.

During the ACoN we could play the Spanish national teams formation and have a false number 9 (or Shola as we like to call him) ;)

I was trying to think of an average prem striker who could offer us something slightly different whilst accepting being 3rd/4th choice so naturally I googled Leroy Lita, he's got a pretty rockin' beard going on in most of the photos!

Don't forget that BA and Cisse haven't even qualified yet and need to get through the Ivory Coast first! What with Sammy, Vuckic, Ben Arfa and Shola all playing in a forward position I think we could be alright!

Don't know who the answer is but we need a good young striker to come in and can be adequate cover for Ba and Cisse. Then again this Campbell kid could be something special for all I know.

Don't know why anyone hasn't gambled with him yet. Scores some amount of goals.

I just think 4 weeks is a long time plus any periods they get injured.
