According to nufc.com he's on tyneside so that suggests it's close to completion - despite greedy agent bastards!

Think it's the other way around. The agent gets £1.5 m of the £6.7 if the deal goes through. He gets nothing if the deal doesn't go through. He won't be doing anything to bugger it up.

What the f... does a new agent do to warrant £1.5 million?.. If an agent is working for the player he should be paid by him. Greedy bastards.

Depends who's pocket the 1.5m is coming out of as Fredd suggests. If we have to pay 1.5m on top of the 6.7m then the deal is well and truly ****ed. If ts coming out of the Ajax end then no problem. These agents always want to make big bucks so its no surprise. They are horrible parasites on the game. If the clubs hadn't been so greedy ripping off players many moons ago we'd never have needed agents, certainly not in their current guise. The clubs created this problem and ironically now find themselves at the mercy of the ****s they provided the platform for. Not that that makes it alright of course!

Whoever's pocker its coming out of, his incentive is to make sure the deal completes.

Agents can often legitimately be criticised for encouranging players to switch clubs so that the agent can make a commision. They can't generally be criticised for preventing deals happening. A pimp isn't going to promote chastity.

Doesn't make sense does it? The player turns down a new contract at Ajax he states he wants to leave the club allow him to be sold and we make a bid that meets the criteria. Don't see what role the agent could have in that process that warrants 1.5 million unless it's representing the player in negotiations in which case shouldn't the player be paying for him!?

This is why the best players to sign are the ones who's Dad/brother/mate is their agent, they won't **** you over like this.

I was once asked if I would like to become an agent,
I thought about it, and said no I can't do that
I'm not a lying conniving scheming twat.....

I think you have to put down around £75,000 first, as a bond first before you can become an agent
best of luck with your investment though

Rare now once they get out of their teens. Football contracts have become so complicated with all the add ons, family members don't know where to start and the club can lead them a merry dance. Some of the add ons/clause now are just overly complex and ridiculous. Unfortunately the clubs tends to be run by ruthless billionnaires nowadays, who will instruct whoever is doing their negotiation to get it as cheap as possible. If it meant ****ing over a player, they wouldn't blink an eye.

This is why I'm still mad keen on a wage cap and doing away with a load of silly add ons. Why do the league not set up a neutral professional body which is tasked with negotiating contracts in any transfer. All the money then stays in the game and the players have professional help who have nothing to gain personally. It could be funded by a small percentage from each transfer and the level they negotiate could be based on a certain set of criteria.

It'll never happen because they're all greedy feckers!!

Exactly! before agents came into the game the clubs used to **** on their players. Paying them hardly any money and ditching them at the first sign of injury. Back in the 70s you could earn more money in a factory than on a football pitch yet the owners were raking it in! If you go back further than that the treatment gets worse and the wages are even more of a joke.

That's easy though isn't it. You find out every conceivable add on in contracts worldwide, find out the highest paid player, and then ask for more! Seriously though Barca ain't gonna risk losing him by playing hardball over contracts. He is guaranteed astronomical money.

There are one or two who still do it across all sports. Lewis Hamilton up until two or three years ago did I believe.

I believe it was much better when they all did. Unfortunately the clubs got cute and started screwing them over. Then it was hello to the world of agents and dick turpin!
