TBH, I can't see the supporters trust being able to find the money, so I think it could soon be goodbye to Portsmouth.

Shame really, but I'd imagine they'd have the support to get back into the league after a few years, from whatever league the new club is put into.

Terrible shame, I always liked going down to Pompey, a good old fashioned club with a great bunch of supporters.

It seems it isn't all over yet though, there is somebody with money who might make a last minute offer.

    Here's hoping.

It's a shame for them they had a string of really really bad owners each one worse than the last. I don't think we'll ever find out what really went on there, but it was a front for money laundering, fraud or something. Only explanation of why it went so wrong so quickly. I seem to recall they sold about 80 millions worth of players in two transfer windows and they still ended up in admin? Crazy totally crazy...

Don't see what stops the Supporters trust doing what Rangers did where the old company is liquidated and the new company is setup and they buy the rights to the old companys assets such as the badge and the name then the league transfers the license over to the new company. Got to be better than the prospect of starting the season a club short in League 1...

It's a shame that the fans have to pay for the owners **** decisions.

Portsmouth could just be one of many clubs in this position. Coventry also in dire straits . A wake up call should be going out to all clubs to start living within their means ( West Ham are you listening ) otherwise we will have a glut of clubs going out of business.

To be honest, when I hear things like this, I hope Ashley stays with Newcastle for a while.

These days, you might need a rich Yank or Arab to buy your way to the title, but it's a gamble, and I'd rather just push for the CL and spend sensibly.

The worrying thing is even if Portsmouth are saved they will get relegated again and be in the same situation again next summer

    THIS! <ok>

It's a terrible shame that the real losers in these situations are the fans. Owners, managers + players move on, but the fans lose their club (or least what it once was).
Feel sorry for pompey fans - they don't deserve this. Hopefully it will get sorted for them in some way.

We're all sorry for Pompey if we like football, but when I think back to the vindictive delight some of their fans took on here and elsewhere when Saints were on the brink of disappearing for good, I can't feel sorry for those people.

Unfortunately, every club has some idiots who make the real fans look bad. While those few might deserve what's happenning, they are probably the least worried about it.

My Dad is a Pompey fan so have a soft spot for them. Like it has been said supporters shouldn't have to pay for bad management of a club, the idiots running it should have to stump it up themselves or face massive penalties/jail time...
