    Taken from Sky Sports.....

Here's a little snippet of what David Sullivan had to say about West Ham's bid for Liverpool striker Andy Carroll.

'We had a deal in place with Liverpool to borrow the player which automatically became a purchase if we stayed up. It was a terribly expensive deal with the loan fee and with his wages, which were enormous - too much for a club like ours. But, as the manager really wanted him, we were prepared to pay it.'

Sullivan didn't bat an eyelid giving Morrison a contract which rises to £60k this season though... ridiculous behaviour..

Seems to me that if this is the case, then this deal did not happen because AC would not agree to move to West Ham. On the one hand it's good to see a clubs hierarchy backing it's managers wants, but is it wise to go out on a financial limb to secure just one player?
On the flip side we see the stance taken over the transfer of DeBuchy. It seems clear that our manager really wanted this player too, but not at any cost as far as the Newcastle Board were concerned. The disappointing thing for me is that securing DeBuchy for Pardew and Newcastle would not have broken the bank, unlike the supposed AC deal.

They must have been offering him about 100k a week. Ridiculous.

Players hold all the power - Why don't they actually say enough is enough and take that power back!!!

Seriously he's now on 60k a week?! He's only played like twice for them and has now been farmed out on loan. It made no sense signing him it was totally out of character for fat Sam as he was young for a start and his agent wasn't Willie McKay

The porn boys like to chuck their muck, sorry money, around. I had this discussion with the mackems the other day when West Ham were cited as one club who has managed to get deal done. They were bemoaning their own lack of progress in transfers and basically being critical to which I pointed out that not much was happening anywhere. I noted that yes they'd done good deals for Cisse, Maiga and Diame (not sure about Collins etc) but how much are they paying these guys to get them there would be my question? Cisse and Maiga will have had plenty options but have chosen to go to West Ham, a bit of a yo yo club just out of the championship! They'll be CL winners wages I bet.
