Welcome to same thing us gooners are subjected to every season.

The pundits are useless. Most people on these forums could predict better than they can.

Yeah, agree with you there. However...the team we put out would struggle to get top half. No Reina, Agger, Lucas (sub) or Suarez. Was actually a good result considering. We got bummed for the most part until Downing scored and pigs grew wings. <ok>

Summing up the article in one quote...

Yup, as with every other Spurs-bashing article this summer, once again it boils down to us sacking Harry more than anything else.

I also like the fact that he says Newcastle will do well, assuming they strengthen the squad, but doesn't discuss whether we might exceed his expectations if we strengthen. Surely if we buy Sahin and Llorente (for example) then mid-table is a ludicrous suggestion.

Bottom line, who cares what he thinks.

Agree, I'm only surprised because usually Jeff Stelling is well informed. I'm amazed at some of the factors he hasn't taken into consideration

  7. As previous seasons have shown, what happens this Saturday will NOT decide the season for us. You only have to look at last season for that.

The delay in completing the signing of a decent Fwd or 3 is immensely frustrating but a) the window is still open and b) we have no real idea yet as to how AVB plans to set the team up with the players he has available. (preseason games didn't really help in that regard)

Personally I think we will do well to come away from Newcastle with a point, but whatever we get there, I won't be writing our season off for a few weeks yet.

    Chin Up!! :)

Relayer. Last season 4th played 5th and we lost heavily at home to City who won the league and we 4th. The season before 4th played 5th and they drew at WHL which was better for them than for us,they finished 4th and we 5th. Yes I'm sorry but the first match when 4th play 5th WILL decide the season for us as compared to Newcastle anyway.

  9. And the thing is, that I don't know many Spurs fans who would want Harry back.

I remember thinking Newcastle were in trouble last season, Nolan, Enricky and Barton left...some unknowns come in and no striker till Ba signed. How wrong I was.

Well if we win it we will be at the top somewhere but if we get slaughtered, well I've already said it....gloom. I wish we'd have signed Loewe or Blanc who to me are far more like Spurs managers than AVB.

Thor, you having a laugh?.....am no fan of AVB but Blanc would have been just like Santini, dour, defensive and lacking in ideas.

As for Lowe, is that the dortmund manager? he wouldn't have left them for us.

I think that's unfair on Blanc, he revived France whilst getting them playing good football. Yeah he made them very solid too but the comparison to Santini is harsh and I feel just because they're both French and have managed France.

Low is the Germany manager isn't he? I think he knows he's got an easy job to do well in there as Germany have so much talent coming through at the moment so I can't see him leaving either.

I'm glad I didn't read the article. I looked to see if there was a league table; which there was, at the bottom.

The minute I saw Chelsea in 5th place, I lost interest. There is no way chelsea will finish that low. As much as I hate them, they are too good to finish in that position.

  16. Ordinarily, I would agree with you. However, I think that RDM is going to struggle to cope with the pressure. Having a great team is simply not good enough; a great manager is needed to keep it all together and the campaign on track. I may well be wrong, and RDM may prove himself to be the equal of Mourhino and Ancelotti, but it's a big ask.

but if he fails HIAG, it'll be contract paid off and someone massive to come in and pick up the pieces, with even more funds in January.

Boss,Dortmund's manager was in the frame for us and I think the others have said about the comparisons with Santini etc. Lowe (sp) is more of a quiet determined character than AVB and more experienced at the top. Blanc did well for France so I'm sorry if I came across as having a laugh. I think signing AVB is having a laugh, what do you think?

I'm laughing at the fact RVP has just signed for UTD & all the goonies are calling him a traitor, now they know how it feels to be shafted by a player they thought was one of them.

But back to your point, I don't think Low was on the cards as he has a big project at dortmund, they just won the double and have qualified for the champions league and signed rues for 18 million, why would he leave all that just to come and manage us?
