Frank, you are a Chelsea legend but get a grip mate. This is your last season. You aren't getting another contract so stop bringing it up and making yourself look stupid.

  2. I thought exactly the same.

If it is true - as was rumoured this time last season - that AVB was brought in to help ease out the old guard and bring through your younger players; and if - as was also strongly rumoured - that it was the likes of Frankie-boy who, through the use of their inordinate amount of power, was a major culprit in ensuring that AVB's techniques failed, there is absolutely no way that the Russian will be renewing his contract. Quite the opposite, the Russian will have been waiting for this day.

Do you think that Lampard will retain any role at the club? If he's been a thorn in the Russian's side (ie. as a result of flexing his player-power muscles once too often in the past), can you honestly see the Russian permitting to have any role at the club?

I don't really care about all that **** I'm talking purely from a football point of view. We now have better options, several better options. He should take a leaf out of Drogbas book and leave on a high.

  4. I genuinely believe that Frankie-boy sees himself a being bigger than the club.

Basically hinted he should have a new contract, not a lot wrong really.

I concur, he is a top player, i think its a good thing he wants to finish his career at Chelsea and be involved with the youth coming through. if his contract is ending, then he needs a new one right? not like he is demanding, just saying he would like to stay at Chelsea. I personally think he has a lot to offer the younger players as well as what he can give to the team on the pitch.

    <ok>

I think the new position of DM suits him, he was putting in some quality tackles on Sunday and his passing is still there. He's shown tremendous loyalty to us being here for 11 years and as long as he accepts not playing every single game then I would love him to stay on a couple more years.

Do you really expect he'd take a big pay cut and be happy not playing? If he wants and the club wants him around then by all means offer him a coaching role at coaching pay.

It all depends of course on the money offered/wanted and the expectations regarding playing time etc but why can't Frank (a ****ing club legend after all by the way) not being given a similar role and status as the older Giggs and Scholes at United?!?!

Some people should stop getting obsessed with players over 30. All clubs (least those who want to win things) need experienced pros around the squad. Frank still has a lot to offer and I'd love to see him at the club till he retires ditto Terry.

Drogba was 34 last year and was our best player in the big games.

Come on, this is a guy who is still an England international and deserves a bit more respect then suddenly 'you're a coach not a player'.

Give him a 2 year deal and a coaching role afterwards if he wants it. If he's paid more than he's now worth he deserves it after the service he has given. Sometimes football shouldn't just be about business decisions.

I'm just obsessed when they get to 35 as Frank will be when his current contract ends.
People make me piss. They go on about wages and ffp and then want to lump millions on to a player who we all know is at the end of his playing career at the top level. He wasn't happy last year not getting games under AVB so why anyone thinks he'll be happy not getting games under RDM is beyond me.

Aren't you always going on about playing MaCeachran and co? Then you want Frank to still play. Make you're mind up.

Frank still has the quality to be a first team regular, Josh should be out on loan as he has no experience whatsoever. This was AVB's problem, he just booted Lamps out despite him still being able to play better than the the players who were actually starting.

The guy is about to captain England tonight...

It wasn't as cut and dry as that. AVB being a total bell end in the process had a lot to do with it aswell.

I felt Frank's problem was that he hadn't heard from Chelsea. He has clearly stated his position, that's all. I'm sure if Chelsea do not give him what he wants then he will look elsewhere. He needs to know whether he should be doing that now. If he is to be let go at the end of season, he can start his job search right now and play out his contract. From Chelsea's side they have no crystal ball and do not know what his form will be in the future. For them it is a guessing game and a risk. They need to negotiate with Frank now and try to mitigate those risks in any future contract. Then it'll be down to Frank if he accepts or not. I think this is all he wants.
