    Team news for Newcastle's Premier League clash with Manchester United at St James' Park.

    Loan signing Stephen Ireland has been included in the Newcastle squad for the first time.

    The 24-year-old could make his debut despite spending the last few days at the bedside of partner Jessica Lawlor after she suffered multiple injuries in a road accident last week.

    Midfielder Cheick Tiote and defender James Perch return from suspension, but skipper Kevin Nolan completes his two-match ban. Goalkeeper Steve Harper has had an injection in his knee and is doubtful.

    Wayne Rooney will return from suspension to spearhead Manchester United's attack. Rooney is available after a two-match ban and is expected to replace Dimitar Berbatov.

    Paul Scholes misses out following his red card at Wembley but fellow veteran Ryan Giggs is expected to return, whilst Jonny Evans returns from his own ban.

    Newcastle: Harper, Krul, Sodeberg, Simpson, Ferguson, Enrique, Coloccini, Williamson, S Taylor, R Taylor, Perch, Tiote, Barton, Gutierrez, Guthrie, Ireland, Vuckic, Tavernier, Richardson, Lovenkrands, Ameobi, Ranger, Kuqi.

    Man Utd: Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Rafael, O'Shea, Brown, Ferdinand, Smalling, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Fabio, Valencia, Gibson, Anderson, Park, Carrick, Giggs, Nani, Rooney, Berbatov, Hernandez, Owen.

    Probable Newcastle line up;

    ---------------------Harper--------------------
    Simpson------Williamson----Coloccini-------Jose
    Barton---------Tiote-------Guthrie--------Jonas
    -----------Lovenkrands----Ameobi-------------

    Stephen Ireland likely to replace Guthrie/Lover/Ameobi at some point I reckon, doubt he'll start.

    I have a decent feeling about tonight, no idea why. The end of the season often throws up funny results, and a win for us would make it a bit tighter at the top... Fingers crossed ey

    Gonna miss the match I'm afraid lads, it's a 1.45am kick off here and I'll be on a sleeper train on my way to Hoi An (I think being there will make up for the pain of not watching the game). I have sneaky suspicion we can grab a draw tonight. See us going 1-0 up and Man Utd throwing the kitchen sink at us and equalising late on.

    Out of ineterest I'm guessing that nothing has happened to Rio Ferdinand following the FA Cup Semi? Saw that the Man Utd dressing room got smashed up but nothing will be done about it and Manchester United have apologised and offered to pay for the damage though apparently it wasn't Ferguson or the players. FA also said they would take no further action. Makes me sick that yet again the top clubs get away scot free.
