Not wumming that mate, it's a cast iron fact. You won't sell Defoe until he's replaced though, and if you did, would he come north? Debatable. He & Bendtner COULD be a very tasty pair.
Actually just checked the latest odds and defoe to us has gone out to 1-2, we might be in bother here ;-)
Still think we are missing a massive trick by not going for Jordan Rhodes. The lad is a natural goalscorer, and somebody like him will score goals at any level.
Take them odds with a pinch of salt mate. It is so easy for the bookies to drop the price of a player going to a certain club, as it gives false pretence and draws the customer into parting with their money. Bookies won't have a clue where Defoe is going. I personally can't see him leaving.
Surely there are better players than Fletcher for £14m ? I'm not saying I don't rate the lad, but £14m!!!! It's a helluva lot of money.
Jordan Rhodes has a long way to go before the premier teams come knocking, a good prospect but he is a slip of a lad - would be a Wickham style gamble and one is enough imho.
Proof will be in the pudding, 15 goals and its money well spent. Could be a watershed moment for MON at Sunderland, if it does not work out could see his almost universal backing knocked a bit. If Fletcher does struggle, which I don't think he will, its going to be a long hard season as we just don't have enough goals in the rest of the team even if Seb and Jimmy Mac chip in again. Hopefully Fletcher will be the first of two decent strikers we get in and they can share the load.
It's about time we put our money where our mouth is If this is the lad who our manager wants to lead the line and the cash is there to meet the asking price then we buy him and move on.
people complain when we dont spend but when we do spend they still find negatives . The board are supporting Mon and buying the players he wants . The board at least see this as a way forward but what do I know ?. This post started off from a rumour on twitter so lets see what happens Lets be positive for a change
I think we will probably find it will be 14m in total with all the add ons included and over a long period of time. I am willing to bet our business team have split the deal up so we pay 2m a year plus add on's. The press will report the full fee as it sounds better and causes a stir. I am willing to bet all the negotiation has been down to the period we pay the money over rather than the actual fee. I don't think we should go on about the money because non of us really know the terms of the deal. The question is do we want the player and is he good enough. Personally if we had almost any other manager I would be disappointed by this signing but as we have MON I think this could be a perfect fit.
http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Football/Premier League/Sunderland but again, not a peep on here, trust me, you will know by looking at this stream when something happens because it will gush with the news as twenty or thirty publications all copy the story.
Big money, but as you say, if thats who Martin O'Neill wants you just have to trust him AND with each Premier League place being around 0.7m, 10-15 goals for a few seasons almost pays for itself...IF he gets that many of course!
If this is true, the lad will need time to adjust, so I hope that some of our fans don't expect instant success because of the fee..
