With Wolves wanting so much for Fletcher surely we can get better value for money than Fletcher. 15 million Is more than we paid for Bent and more than Gyan. Is he a better player than either? I would suggest not. I will be gutted if he has been our one and only target.
Fletcher isn't a patch on either of those two.. And as somebody else has mentioned today add a mere 5 million to what wolves are asking for him and you meet RVP's RRP... Shocking.. Nobody on earth can tell me that robin van Persie is only worth 5m more than a 12 goal a season striker who's been relegated on two consecutive occasions..
He's far better than Gyan in my opinion, who traded off his fancy name, 'cool' image and scoring a couple of pens in the World Cup. He only scored 10 league goals for us, in a side that finished 10th, while Fletcher scored 12 in a hopeless Wolves side. Unfortunately he's nowhere near the striker Bent is, but the market has inflated massively lately and so we were always going to have to overpay for him.
Jesus Christ WHY are you willing to pay that much for Fletcher? It's been proven that there is good value out there if you look for it. Do you even employ a scout?

Christ knows we've had some shocking transfers ourselves over the years but this would be well up there IMO! Nearly everyone you're being linked with is a former player of O'Neill's ffs!

The problem seems to be that there is a sell on clause in his contract where Burnley get a percentage of the Fee. Wolves obviously want to re coup the money they paid for him and make a profit. Just unfortunate for us it inflates the price.
We should walk away now...Fletcher is over-priced.Surely,we must have other targets to aim for.I love a pint or three,but I wouldn't pay a tenner for one.Surely,the same logic applies when buying a footballer!!

Carr wasn't at the club. That deal was Dennis Wise, Jeff Vetere and Tony Jimenez. All of which have since left the club.
