Agree with you there Joe Kinnear (blimey, never thought I'd type that sentence).

Foreign players often take a good season to settle in. Colo + Enrique both had difficult times in their first season here. I think Santon will do well this year and go on to become a first choice legend / fan's favouite much the same way as Jose did.

I agree, this seems wholly unfair to the lad. He is in a new country like you say, learning a new language and trying to adapt to a game that is played at a frenetic pace in comparison to Italy. He was playing in what is not his best position and had to come in and out of the team a bit early on due to niggling knee injuries carried over from Inter. The lad oozes class and I expect big things from him this year.

The OP's question was who is our "weakest mainstream player". Willo is in the first team squad and likely to be on the bench - unless either Colo or Saylor are injured / unfit, in which case he'll most likely start. <ok>

i agree with willo, simmo & obertan

but...and I'll prob get slated for this.....i actually think HBA can be a weak link. if the game isn't going his way he can go missing for good chunks and loose the ball needlessly, he's kind of a Laurent Robert on hs day a cracking player but non-existant on a bad day.

I was going to say HBA as well, but bravely waited for someone else to take the opening salvo. When he's on, he's unstoppable but if he isn't on, he loses the ball and doesn't track back, which puts Simpson under more pressure. Still, I'd rather see his name on the team sheet than the alternatives.

Actually, if any of those are our weakest link then we're in pretty good shape. Willo is a generally solid, if unspohisticated defender. Obertan has plenty of pace and is a very useful outlet, and is showing hints of developing an end product. I always am worried that Simmo will make a mess of things but he usually doesn't, and he has had some moments of real quality.
