For many seasons we have realised that the people running Scottish Football couldn't organise sex in a brothel. However this year they have made complete idiots of themselves. Every country try to show their best football on regular television. Does Scotland show their best, or do they even try. It doesn't appears so, as far as I can foresee Scotland is the only Football Country in the world to agree to include its fourth tier football within its tv football agreements. Brazil doesn't show fourth tier, neither does Spain, Germany, Holland, not even money mad England. The world can now watch fourth grade Scottish Football on satellite tv. The English were very fond of sneering at us when we showed only our elite or Premier League football, now the whole world will sneer at us and will know how crazy it is to place one club in a position of importance, even when its cheating has forced it out of existence. Scottish Football still gives its not fully formed off -spring an undeserved position of honour.
The demand is still there and Sky are simply catering for that demand. If they did not show Rangers games then many would cancel their subscriptions.
I like the fact that Newco are on the telly. It means I can laugh at games like today. It also means that I can watch them and when I pass judgement on their style/ players etc, then I've got a fair idea of what I'm talking about. Clearly, though, that isn't a quality you think important.
Listen I think you are looking at this from a narrow perspective. Secretively you may have had a wee liking for the huns and want to see how their replacement is getting on. I certainly see nothing wrong with anyone who wants that. However, I think to merit tv exposure a club needs to like in every other country in the World needs to have league status. Forgive me if I am wrong it is quite a while since Scottish Football Authorities have shown themselves to run well managed and successful competitions. It may no co-incidence that the successful National Football Competions are ran by where ability and League Status is the only criteria for prizes and awards. Reputation does not garner reward in well run competitions. TV coverage of 4th tier can only be for the benefit of one club and certainly not for the entire leagues.
Last I checked they even had live Blue Square Premier games on the telly, which is the equivalent of us showing Govan Emerald Shamrock vs Grapes Loyal on Sky. If there is an audience, the pish will be paid for and shown on tv.
Osp Good point although I would have thought it was more like showing SFL2 games. OSP do you know of any Country who shows the lowest national league, made up of part time players and concentrate their broadcasting to show the same one team in all matches. This team has been placed in their current league as a result of long time financial doping (cheating). The elite clubs of The SPL wouldn't let them play in the SPL regardless of financial loss. 25/30 SFL clubs voted them into Div 3 again without concern for their financial loss, how we here despite been a badly soiled identity they are going to be shown on all their away matches and some home matches to keep their supporters satisfied and I thought we all agreed they had done wrong.
PooperScooper, Why cant you just be happy that they are no longer our main rivals for honors? Yes they are getting coverage on Sky, but so are the teams they are playing against. These teams have some really good players, who may end up getting a move to a bigger club as a result of the exposure they will receive this year. This brings in a transfer fee for the club. The players who do get snapped up by some higher class teams, would probably never have gotten the chance to advance their careers, had it not been for the tv coverage. Not EVERYTHING in this world is to the detriment of Celtic or its fans. Why do you always have to spout your pish about how much Rangers are benefiting from cheating. Last i looked, they lost most of their players, have very little money (if any) to replace them with and are starting over in the 3rd division. What more do you want? Perhaps they should play the first half of the season with only 6 players and start at 3 goals down. Would that make you happy? (I ****ing very much doubt it would) Cue: Another hun loving Tim rant from PooperScooper....
CX3LTIC. Thank you for your contribution, everyone is allowed to have their views, however strange they may be. I thought that nearly everyone that followed Scottish Football knows that Rangers broke several of the rules and laws of football. They have been found guilty and have now admitted their quilt in some of the most serious offences known in Scottish Football. In fact it could be said that they have led the way in Scotland, no other club has come near to having committed any offences nearly as serious as Rangers. I for the life of me cannot understand a club found guilty of such offences are allowed to take part in SFL3. They claim when it suits them that they are a new club. Other new clubs have to have 3 years accounts. Awaiting to be judged on Rangers is players with 2 contracts, EBT payments, the partiality of Whyte's choice of Administrators who from February seemed to put Rangers first and creditors second. As you know there are many more "outstanding issues that need to be dealt with. We know that Doncastor and Regan bent over backwards to try to get Rangers into SPL. Surely they haven't held back the outcomes of the other investigations. I would hardly think so especially with Campbell Og (who was Secretary of Rangers) and received an EBT boss of Scottish Football. I tell you C£LTIC if you think that I should be happy, I cannot see why the rest of football suffers because Rangers do wrong.
