He can play fullback mate. He's played a load of games there for Ajax.

If he can play full back, why didn't we get a proper full back? We're stowed out with midfielders. Simmo, Jonas, Perch, Raylor, Saylor, can play full back. Can't understand this transfer like.

He's an awesome, versatile player. He's a DM that can make runs forward. Kind of like Ramires.

He'll fit right into our style of play. Just because we're packed in midfield, doesn't mean we should settle for the quality we have. He will be an improvement our team.

I can just Imagine us with a flowing move, or on the break. His pace, skill and playing those little short passes. Him, Ben Arfa and Amalfitano on the break together... JIZZ!!

You can see with the signings we've made that Pards is looking to play pacey, passing footy, and we'll have a lot of skill and finesse in the side.

Anyways, He can do all this, PLUS he can do a good job at fullback. We obviously don't have many good targets for fullback at the moment, so I reckon the club are basically just gonna ride it out until Jan, and they think that Simmo, Santon, Perch, Anita, Raylor ect will be good enough to for our fullback depth.

Watching that video makes me think he is a classier Joe allen, but Anita is the superior tackler, has more pace and is around £10m cheaper!

Surely we'd rather have a left back? We don't actually have one. We have three right backs who can play left back in Santon, Raylor and Perch

Anita today in De Telegraaf: The deal is done, NUFC will pay 8,5 million euro's(6.67 million pounds) + added bonusses.

Seems like Ashley caved in from the original 5 million euro offer(3,92 million pounds) in June.

I dont get involved in a lot of transfer talk as so much **** is talked (by papers etc, not by you lot) (also by you lot) but this was one player I was sure there was some truth in, and a player im really happy about. Classy bit of talent who will bring a lot to the team. Time for smug face I reckon.

From what I see, Anita is a very comfortable player on the ball...He looks like a better ball-player, faster, yet weaker tackler than Tiote. I just get the feeling that they're very similar to each other, but Anita is a very smart user of the ball... I would welcome him if he came... However, I still feel our biggest position of need is a full back especially a RB! Please get one!!!

Would prefer a centre back. We have decent RB cover, but can be easily exposed at CB with one or injuries/suspensions.

Oh, and maybe an extra striker. <ok>

I thought we have Colo, Saylor, Willo and Curtis Good at CB already...at a stretch Perchino could play CB as well..To me its RB that's still weak, we need a quality RB who starts, and Simmo to back him up and we'll be ready to challenge imo

To be fair we have plenty of right backs in Santon, Simpson, Raylor and Perch. Its a left back we really need. Though I do understand if they can get Debuchy why they'd continue with Santon in his less favoured position. Curtis Good is more of a development player at this stage. We need another centre back due to Saylor having yet to prove he isn't injury prone, and Willo being found wanting at certain stages last year. The number of games we'll play means we'll need some depth, last season should be a lesson learned.

With Perch I'd like to see him used more as back up in DM where he has looked his best for us.

I do agree, even I personally feel Santon is more of a RB, yet AP has adamantly stated that he sees Santon as a LB, hence my choice of going along with that and thinking we should really get a quality RB to start over Simpson. Raylor can cover both fullback positions and is adequate, pencil in Santon as a FB starter, Simmo and Raylor as backups, all that's really left is to get a quality RB, fingers crossed it's debuchy. Curtis Good I am of the opinion AP wants to convert him into a LB as he is left footed, if he plays well there then see if he can take on CB as a secondary role, or the other way around. That said, I do think we need 1 fullback and 1 centreback, unless they are really going to rely on Perch to cover every position in the back 4...

Then again, that in itself may not seem that impossible, seeing that we've improved depth in midfield with the return of Marveaux, Obertan's second coming, Romain Amalfitano, Gael Birigiwhatsisnamemana...

It's Gael Bigirimana and not Bigirl as many people make out.

I have decided to name him Bigismalls, nickname "Notorious" as I have no hope of pronouncing/spelling that name. Santon suggested that Pardew had told him he'd play more on the right this year. I'm starting to think it must have been a bullshit story because this pursuit of Debuchy is pretty out in the open. I don't think we'll ever see the best of him on the left having seen him on the right for Italy U21 but he can play left back at the end of the day.

I think you may well be right about Good. I think he'll give good cover in two positions. Him, Tav and Streete are the young defenders I expect to see come in and out of the first team squad. If we get a fullback, a centre back, maybe this Anita and a non ACON striker (may not be necessary given the draw) I'd be really happy. If we can get one or two of those then I'll still be happy and confident of a good season.

I just think the likes of Santon, Cabaye and even Benni who has not had loads of game time, will all progress and take a significant leap forward this year. It is normal for foreign players once they adapt. I don't think we'll see the same mid season dip from Cabaye this year. I'm also really pleased with the likes of Abeid and Tav who look ready to push on. Then you Marveaux who is clearly very very talented. Can he stay fit? Who knows! The number of operations he's had on his groin suggest its a chronic problem but fingers crossed.
