Here's a thread for building the new squad. We start with the squad as it currently stands and you can add players as they join or if you see reports or hear rumours on the grapevine. Just mark the names with C for Confirmed R for Reported G for Grapevine. So here's the squad as it stands at the moment: Goalkeepers: Defenders: Midfield: Strikers: I'd say it's looking a bit threadbare at the moment.
Well we do start the season with Defender - Adam Webster (signed) and Forward - Ashley Harris (signed) Izale McLeod said he has signed a pre-contract agreement so I guess he's a C That's 3 A bit more than threadbare methinks.
Don't worry you will have most of your triallists and going by how they have performed you will at least have a chance of winning some games.
I would be VERY suprised if the majority of trialists don't sign up The following is by no means a finished list, I will be editing and adding to it at a later time Goalkeepers: Andersen (C? - http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/p...confirms-keeper-loan-move-to-pompey-1-4076482) Defenders: Webster Magri Dumbuya (R) Derry (G) Clifford (C/R - http://www.weaintgotnohistory.com/2012/8/4/3220097/chelsea-fc-transfer-news-conor-clifford-loan) Harley Midfield: Howard (C/R) Compton Walker Strikers: McLeod (C) Rodgers (R) Harris Thompson
WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT CHELSEA FORWARD WHO SAID 'FRATTON PARK WOULD BE IDEAL FOR HIM'? HAVE WE GOT HIM YET? Sorry for using my outdoor voice.
Connor Clifford - (or Clifford Connor?) is a definite as long as the club exists next week. My mate who is a Chelsea fan said he's been getting loads of welcome to the club tweets from Pompey fans.
As concerns grow as to BC motives, and the playing budget is slashed from the previously agreed £4mn to just £1.5mn why can the PST not step in now with their budget of £2.65mn? This is starting to really stink now..................... http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/p...ace-against-time-to-recruit-players-1-4156051
From what I can understand of all this Chanrai's debenture continues to be the stumbling block. It seems (although this is an educated guess) that an agreement has to be made with Chanrai over his fixed charge by a potential purchaser. PST have only offered £2.75m for his £17m debenture so unless they can come to an agreement, either with Chan or through the courts he remains the "preferred" buyer.
As I understand it, the agreements with the senior players comes to around 8 million quid. With a £4m budget per season and that 8 million spread over 4 years, the totals match up reasonably well, if we include PKF's 1.8.
Rumours that Karim Rekik and Scott Allen coming back on loan. I really like Scott Allen and was hoping Appy could bring him back. Don't remember Karim Rekik though.
Here you are Devo - a statement from Trevor Birch on the O/S Trevor Birch, PKF partner and joint administrator of Portsmouth Football Club, has released the following statement: “I realise that many supporters are concerned about the size of the squad ahead of the start of the new season. “I’ve been working with Michael Appleton and the coaches to ensure that we have enough players to start the campaign, regardless of what happens off the pitch over the next few days. “If a new owner is not in place shortly, then we will use a combination of players from the development squad and players signed on non-contracts [effectively short-term deals]. "We’re also talking to the Football League to see if there’s any additional support that they can give us until the ownership situation is resolved. “This is not an ideal situation, but we’re doing as much as we can in incredibly difficult circumstances.”
Appy is on Radio Solent later today (pre-match interview) and apparently he has pulled no punches on how unprofessional Chanrai has been.
