They serve their members, and they happen to be both the largest Leeds United supporter's group and one of the largest in Britain. Until a seperate group becomes larger they can quite rightly claim to represent Leeds United's fans.
There's some ridiculous claims going on here but that's not unusual given the contributors. Facts: a) LUST represents some 8000 LUFC supporters, and is the largest single independent LUFC supporters club b) LUST asked for representation on the board and has always said it would represent what the fans wanted them to represent, and has always been open and held open and public meetings c) Bates told them to shove it and put their money where their mouths are and buy the club d) LUST contacted a number of people and lo and behold suddenly LUFC is in talks about a takeover, an exclusivity period for due diligence is undertaken e) LUST are not representatives of either party, but they are in contact with the potential buying party or their representatives. If anyone even knows who they are, it will be LUST f) LUST are not responsible for the talks breaking down - either Bates or the other party are. It's pretty simple - some people on here are just depressing and all they want to do is sound big and hard by slagging others who work damned hard on their behalf
OP - could you please elaborate on exactly which part is opinion, what is factually incorrect, which is total crap and why, because your answer just seems to be a little petulant?
The only thing I can see LUST have done wrong is perhaps getting involved when they weren't welcome to the party. It takes two parties to sell a business and when one feels the other has more hands to play, the other party acts to deflect that. In this situation I think Bates saw LUST as pro the buyers and anti him, therefore he acts to get them away. LUST needs to be more conscious of how the game is played and not be around or asking questions when there is no need for them to be there.
What is the title of this thread, What is fat sorry big Gary saying tonight? "ThAT LOOKS PRETTY FOOLISH TO ME". In fact it demonstrates a lack of understanding on the take over process in general.
We're angling towards the same things as are being discussed on the other thread, so let's continue this there? No point having the same argument with the same bloke simultaneously on two different threads!
I've certainly not been blind and have said I thought certain comments from LUST were slightly ill-advised, albeit understandable. But they're the best bet we've got, and certainly don't deserve the sort of personal attacks ('fat Gary') which play right into Bates' hands, even if that's not your intention. If you don't want to blindly trust them, fine, but don't blindly distrust either? Be doubtful and non-commital until the conclusion of the talks is reached if you don't want to place total faith in LUST, then you can look back and laugh at the people who were wrong either way, whether it be the followers of Bates or those of LUST. We just need to be sensible about this whole thing as a fanbase and not do anything we'll regret.
That is a two way street I don't see you slapping down the absurd claims of the likes of Elmo. You are right Gary was not fat it was just my wide screen tele.
I haven't read Elmo's comments, although my views on that particular poster's way of dealing with their opponents in an argument have been made clear in the past. I might appear an LUST apologist, but I think they've made mistakes just like any other group that has existed in human history. I just don't think they've been sufficient in number to warrant the kind of abuse they're getting, especially when people could just A) lay off and see when talks end, or B) join LUST to vent their anger rather than unconstructively hurling it via t'internet.
Except every single point Elmo has made is true. You can read into it what you want but every basic point is 100% grounded in fact.
