    Maybe an opportunity missed?

If we couldn't buy a good striker, Lukaku would have been a good 3rd choice for us for a season.

A hungry striker, quick, very powerful.

Doubt we would be willing to loan anyone, without a view to buy.

I don't see why can't consider loan deals tbh. For the right price and wages, it can be a very useful option when struggling to secure permanent deals, like we are now.

I've seen nothing from him that makes me want him. He could turn out good, but it's not our job to develop other clubs youth, especially ones who were bought for 18m and still aren't wanted by their club after a whole season there.

West Brom will only have pulled this loan off by offering nailed on assurances that Lukaku is more often than not in the starting eleven.

They wouldn't let him come to Newcastle and sit on the bench when he can do the exact same at Chelsea. Frankly he'd be at least third choice behind Ba, Cisse and Ben Arfa – probably at best competing with Shola.

Could do a decent job for the Baggies tho but no great shakes...

Chelsea wouldn't be interested in helping us and he wouldn't be interested in bench warming.
