So, what would your line up be for Man City this Sunday in the Charity Shield? Some say it's still a pre-season match, which I sort of agree but I'd still want to be put out our best possible line up and try to win the match! I'd go with this... ----------------------------Cech----------------------------- -Ivanovic----------Cahill-------------Terry-------------A.Cole- -------------------Mikel-------------Lampard----------------- --------Ramires------------Hazard------------Marin----------- ---------------------------Torres---------------------------- Mata is back from the olympics but has only just got back so he would be on the bench but ready to come on if need a goal etc... Marin should be fit I think after being out with a slight knock against Brighton.
I'd go with this too If Marin isn't fit I'd swap him with Oscar and put Hazard out wide. Welcome to the forum
With Lampard and Mikel in midfield, we will be too slow switching into attack in the PL. Too many touches. Frank should get used to starting on the bench.
Cheers Drogs! Oscar will still be at the olympics, Brazil vs Mexico in the final on Sunday, but I can't wait to see him play for us, he has looked great for Brazil! And yes, we do need a quality CM, a Modric, Cabaye, Javi Martinez type player would be perfect for us!
-------------Cech Ivanovic - Luiz - Terry - Cole ---------Mikel - Essien Hazard -----Mata-----Marin ------------Torres Lampard doesn't suit the only position avalaible to him, I wouldn't start him anymore. Ramires has been frankly appaling in pre season. So has Ivanovic but I wouldn't start Hutch against City.
Ramires has been poor but only because he is being played out wide and he isn't. Cech Ivan Cahill JT Cole Mikel Ramires Marin Hazard Mata Torres
To be fair, most of our players had a poor pre-season. Not just Ivanovic & Ramires. I would expect them to be as solid as usual when it comes to our proper matches!
Clearly not since Real Madrid have already bid £27mill for him. By your logic though, Torres has gone to worthless from £50mill in 18 months Anyway, looking forward to seeing your boys in action on Sunday, should be interesting to see how you fare against a settled City side.
Yup i concur, and it looks DELICIOUS! I hope for Tottenhams sake you dont lose Modric youll need him to compete this year.
Think we will get beat fairly easily TBH. City will be putting out the team that won the title and it's going to take a few weeks for RDM to work out his best line up, tactics etc for us.
Do Chelsea fans rate Mikel? I've not seen him play much live, the times I have he's not done much to stand out, but then maybe that's his role. Assumed he would be moved on as part of the ongoing changes. He arrived with a big rep, still young I guess and with lots of experience. What would you value him at?
Not the most exciting player by any means but he has learnt how to do his job properly and sit back well.
