Should they ? ?. But looking at last nights**programme Ben Amos has been given No.22 **The players from last season have kept there numbers and the new players will fill in the vacant ones. I wonder if Cullen and Bradleys squad Nos. 21 & 26 shall become available as well. ? But does it really matter in the end these days ? .
Supporters who attended Tuesday night’s game against Norwich City will no doubt have noticed the players sporting their squad number for the new season. The official numbers were ‘in action’ for the first time and were also displayed on the back of our new-look matchday programme. For those who haven’t seen them yet, here is our list of squad numbers as it stands for 2012/13: 1. Eldin Jakupovic 2. Liam Rosenior 3. Andy Dawson 4. Paul McKenna 5. James Chester 6. Jack Hobbs 7. Cameron Stewart 8. Corry Evans 9. Aaron Mclean 10. Robert Koren 11. Jay Simpson 12. Matty Fryatt 13. Mark Oxley 14. Tom Cairney 15. Paul McShane 16. Seyi Olofinjana 17. Liam Cooper 19. Joe Dudgeon 20. Jamie Devitt 21. Mark Cullen 22. Ben Amos 23. Abdoulaye Faye 24. Sone Aluko 25. Daniel East 26. Sonny Bradley 28. Alex Bruce 32. Conor Townsend 33. Nick Proschwitz
Heskey??? Joking, perhaps we're getting another centre mid, Bruce said he wants two more, probaly Elmohamedy(27) and another player(18)
Wasn't NB 18?? Might be reading too much into it but could be a sign of respect? Simpson with 11, means he's a definite stayer?
There's apparently a bylaw in Hull, that says, however good a footballer you are, if you're called Emerton, you're not allowed to be played in a league team. It replaced another bylaw, that previously prevented any sporting organisation in Hull from signing a left back.
Simpson was 11 last season, and was instantly loaned out - if Pearson had stayed in charge he may have been sold in January.
I'd have gone with 12 or 19 being saved for that. (because they're always on about the fans being the 12th man, and 19 is the first one outside the matchday squad) The vacant 18 is interesting, we've presumably got someone lined up for that. I wonder if Proschwitz being the 33 is to do with having a double number? That was why Okocha had 44, maybe it's a German superstition that he picked up there early in his career. (Olofinjana had the 44 because he wanted JJ's number rather than his own superstition) As for Tickler's 9, 19, 29 idea, I think someone has been looking at my squad on FM.
