You didn't from the numerous threads I've read Steve. This has been building for around six weeks. A large number of threads on the Sunderland page have been wummed (can't speak for Newcastle as I don't visit) which has resulted in a few battles as things heated up. The tipping point for me came when a thread was posted on the Newcastle page that I became aware of after a PM that wished a career ending injury on Wes Brown. I have nothing against NUFC at ALL but I do against individuals whom post such things about players on their prospective club page and are allowed to continue to do so without being banded from the clubs relevant page. Having to read such things has taken away the enjoyment for me and many I suspect at this time. I'm hoping that with time things will settle down and the enjoyment can return.
6 weeks? its been going on for 2 years. I am not saying MR is the instigator of this, but it does seem, that when MR rears his head, even if it has nothing to do with football, like his Olympic threads, just to show he is back, all hell breaks loose on another thread, as if its MR is back, lets get them (even if its not meant or planned, it just seems that way to me, Jedi ****e going on or something, when MR isnt here its relatively quiet (some things can kick off but it never gets this bad until he returns)). Like i said I dont think he comes back just to get into fights, they just seem to happen when he is around, its weird. Debate I can handle, even the odd argument is good to clear the air, even the odd swear word I dont mind, but when every other post is your a ****, ****er, **** off, tosser, peado, whatever and etc it just brings the whole board down to its knee`s and to me (just my opinion) once you start throwing personal insults around, you have just lost the argument as you cant think of a decent logical comeback (even if that has the odd swearword in). I really dont fancy a SAFC only forum, (but I will join syds eventually/probably) if i did I would have went to the RTG site years ago, I love the banter with other clubs, either on their boards or on ours, so I think I will be staying here, but it does get you down, start a good debate, then a **** off you ****er post, and all hell breaks loose, may as well close the thread once it starts, because after that, the original debate is totally lost. As for this sticking up for my mates ****, the same posters say its only the internet, so why should you have to stick up for your mates (who lets be honest are not your mates, as you probably have never met them in your life, they just have 1 common interest, Sunderland) and surely they can debate just as good for themselves if they posted in the first place. 1 Newcastle fan posted a link on here to their board, with his 1000th post, everyone went after him, and they didnt even click the link, it was just what do you think is GOOD about your rivals city/club/supporters/players etc etc, nowt wrong with it, but he got loads of abuse (fair enough he gave as good as he got, but the Sunderland lads started it, as there was nothing wrong with the thread/link at all). credit comm though he did apologize for not even looking at the link.
