Charley, very good point mate, one that many of us (including me) had, I believe, forgotten about. Qwop, that was part of my point from your last post I think. Wolves are playing games, and I'm trying to say maybe we should to to try and get the price down. One of our massive problems however Is that everyone knows that we need a striker and we're ****ed without one so price and demand (and time I suppose) comes into it
Not buying a striker now will relegate us it is as simple as that, your Bebatovs, etc will not come here untill this club takes off, ground extention champions league etc.
Pouch - I'll give you partial credit on my first point. Spending on your own club is somewhat a bottomless pit! But my second point still remains - I want our board not overpaying so that there is more to spend on other players. That way, we get a better 11 on the pitch. Granted, at clubs like man city, this is irrelevant, but at Sunderland, budgeting is a very big deal.
Of course it is, Short wants Sunderland to be a successful business as top level football is now sadly 'a business'. On field sucess and a healthy balance sheet go hand in hand, ask the Glazers, they can skim 100milish a year from Man U
It should be at every club. FFP is clearly going to be toothless because the clubs with bottomless pits are making no effort whatsoever to rein in the spending. My point is really that I used to say "he is not worth that" or "we should be getting this for him" but when you actually think about it, it makes no difference to us really. We had people jumping off the deepend when we flogged Carroll and the money wasn't spent. We're a better team though, the fact its cost us buttons is nice but neither here nor there for me. The same applies if we'd spent a fortune. Don't get me wrong either, its not a flippant attitude towards how money is spent in the game on transfers/wages. That is absolutely disgusting.
How very silly this sounds? You do realise, that with same team, in only 24 games, Mon averaged 1.42 points a game? Take that over 38 and our likely target with the same players is 54 points? Even if we where 20% worse off losing Sess and his 8 goals, we'd have 43 points? Hardly a relegated scenario and you don't know who would come in yet? Unless you think Mon will fail for the first time in his career, then this is a silly statement.
****ing hell! Not being condiscending I hope but totally agree. A realistic person. Don't **** yourselves.
