Mancini has conceded that RVP won't be joining £ity. saying 'No, I don't think he will come here'

According to the article, RVP apparently favours the 'history and prestige' of Utd and Juve, but there are no direct quotes from RVP himself.

RVP has joined up with the squad for the German tour. It's looking more likely that he'll stay at Arsenal in my opinion. I think his statement was poorly worded and poorly timed. Arsenal are adding quality to the squad, if he's got any sense, he'll stay put.

He'll need some games before the new season anyway, I wouldn't think joining the rest of the squad is particularly telling.

If RVP joins United, I will highly detest him.

Maybe, but I think playing with his team mates, especially his new strike partners could show him that his statement about 'lack of ambition' was way wide of the mark. Also, if as is rumoured Cazorla is on the plane to Germany with them, then I think RVP will be having second thoughts about that assertion too.

Personally, I think RVP will still be an Arsenal player this season coming.

Hate to say it but it looks to me like he's off to utd. Never used to think he was the type but he obviously has no love for Arsenal.

    Hope i'm wrong...

Arsenal still hold all the cards with regard to RVP though.

Utd will have to come up with a better offer than their reported £15m before he goes anywhere.

It's still my opinion that RVP will be an Arsenal player this season.

rvp saga is now getting annoying. I think he will end up at Juv. I never boo any arsenal player but i dont want him to stary. However if he stays if not the fans then the team and wenger at the very least deserve an apology.

I agree with you. I'd love him to stay (if nothing else, it'd be funny after his petulant statement) but I have a sneaking suspicion he'll be at Manchester sodding United come September. If he does go now, I'll be more convinced than before that it was a move motivated by money. Assuming we get Cazorla and Sahin then there's not a huge amount between the two teams-Van Persie staying at Arsenal might actually put us ahead.

I'd be surprised if all it took was some good signings. From the statement it looks like RVP's taken one look at his medal collection and decided he doesn't want to leave the game without adding to it. If he joined City, United or Juventus he'd be drastically improving his chances of winning major competitions in the short term and taking a nice little wage hike to boot.

In my opinion you're better off selling him for £25mill now than risking losing him on a free in a year's time, especially if you can get him to go to Juve.

Arsenal holds all the cards? Maybe the Joker, RVP holds the ace Piskie, he has said he is not signing a new contract, can Arsenal afford to hold him to his contract and let him walk away for free, can we we afford to let 15 - 20mill squid go up in smoke? From January, he is good to begin pre-contract talks with a team of his choice, might even be Chelsea if their strike force is still firing blanks then. Arsenal should just accept Juve's offer and be done with it. As Arsenal87 I would be pretty angry if he want to sign for Manure! I detest that that team more than I detest the spuds!

I have always gone with the thought that RVP will be an Arsenal player next season, even after his statement about lack of ambition we had already signed Podolski and Giroud. I do wonder if Wenger and the board knew for quite sometime that this was going to be the summer where they spend big and strengthen in depth, after all the money being used it cash generated by the club itself.

Cazorla is now an Arsenal player, Sahin is reported to be a 95% done deal (loan with option to buy should it be Sahin's choice) and I think we are garenteed to get 2 more players in defensive roles. Van der wiel has been reported to be on the cards, he would be excellent back up as a fullback.

We all know the M'vila deal that looked so close to being wrapped up has cooled down significantly the past few weeks, I would honestly love this guy to be an Arsenal player he is the defensive rock we need. The squad would have huge strength in depth i do not see how Van Persie would want to leave.

The future is bright my fellow Gooners!

I agree with all of that, but he is still under contract to Arsenal and if we like, we can hold him to his contract. Where at the end of the season, he will be 30 years old and unlikely to secure a big deal anywhere.

That said, if Juve do come in with a £20m + offer then it would probably be wise to pass him off and take the cash now.

I just feel really stitched up by the man. He had one good season for us, and now he thinks he can shaft us. ****ing bad form.

Really don't know what you mean by he will be 30+ and therefore will be unlikely to command a big transfer..... Remember the bloke is like a 15yr rolls royce, with very very low mileage (I bet you Rooney has played more football than RVP), also remember there will be no transfer fee involved. He was largely unsused at the Arsenal, (which is what frustrates me), if we had used him "properly" for all those years he has been with us I will not begrudge him a move.

He will be 30 years old, with a sketchy injury record. That is a risk, even without a transfer fee.

I don't know what you mean by him being not being used 'properly' ? We used him as often as we could, but the majority of his time at Arsenal has been spent on the physio table.

Rather than a 15 year old Roller with low milage, I would describe him as a Top spec Alfa Romeo, great when they work, but expensive to fix and difficult to get parts for.

As already mentioned, RVP joining Man Utd will be very hard to take and accept. Just imaging him in that United kit is horrifying.
