Mark Hughes will try to tempt Tottenham defender William Gallas to cross London and join Queens Park Rangers, but will have to match the wages the Frenchman currently earns at White Hart Lane. * Goal.com report that the Welsh manager wants to add another experienced figure to his backline, following the signing of Ryan Nelson from Tottenham, but Gallas is reluctant to settle for less than the reported £60,000 per week he currently earns. QPR are equally unwilling to make the 34-year-old Frenchman one of their highest paid players. * Gallas has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs, following the signing of Dutch international Jan Vertonghen, and the emergence of Steven Caulker, who has retuned to Spurs following an outstanding campaign at Swansea City last season.* Andre Villas-Boas has told the former Chelsea and Arsenal defender that he is free to leave White Hart Lane, as the Portuguese manager seeks to lower the average age of the squad. * While Mark Hughes is keen to sign the experienced defender, his injury record remains a concern, after making just 18 appearances last season, despite the prolonged absence of Michael Dawson. Goal.com understands that the QPR hierarchy are not willing to match the exorbitant wage Gallas picks up at Tottenham. * Gallasâ prospective move would add him to an increasing list of experienced Premier League players to move to Loftus Road this summer. Ryan Nelson (34), Park Ji Sung (31), Robert Green (32) and Andy Johnson (31) have been convinced to join QPR, in addition to some youthful exuberance in the form of Junior Hoilett and Fabio da Silva, the latter who arrived from Manchester United on a season-long loan.
We all want things in life... Really can not see this one happening...yet more rubbish being written...
A lot was said about our scouting, I noticed we pulled out of signing Buttner and then a couple of weeks later we had the 3rd party thing and hes still not gone anywhere. These types simply arent worth it. Gallas is basically saying hes only in it for the money. I cant believe we where interested in Gallas at any point.
Normally Id put in a reasoned reply into why we shouldnt sign him but theres about 10 players that dont deserve one (like Terry, Diouf, King etc) and Gallas is one of them.
surely not another cb on a 1 year contract,if true then that would be connolly, hill, nelson, annd possibly, gallas all needing to be replaced next summer,we need a young cb now not more experience.
