Apparently it's cos in most US sports the teams aren't allowed to put words on the shirt, only logos. So he probably assumed it was the same for the PL. Definitely amateur-tastic - could be why Reuters is reporting the deal as being so big if he paid £25-30 million for the logo, and then had to pay more to get the name on too!
You'd think with the money he was getting there that he'd have the capacity to check simple factors of the deal out. Mad.
You dont know **** mate, everything you type is garbage Some interesting points until you turned up with ^ your usual tripe
That's not true, all you usually need is a signature of an authorised person and a witnesses. In some cases you may need two primary signatures but the norm is for one and witnesses. It is the responsiblity of the authorised person signing to make sure that the contract has been discussed and approved by other memebers of the board/committee.
Bullshit We are talking about an absolutely massive deal involving someone who is not even close to ownership. Read a little about the deal. If some of you actually read the news in America you would realise that GM have been trying to get rid of him for months, there sales have been awful and it was mainly down to his mild marketing style. At no point would the main directors of GM not known about this deal, ****ing utterly ridiculous
I'm not saying if they new about the deal or not. If you read what I said, I was just saying that you don't need the signatures of more than one or two executives to complete a deal like this and that the onus is on them to clear it with their board before signing not on United to do so on their behalf. Whether it was cleared with the board or not isn't something I was debating nor was I discussing the reason he got fired since that isn't yet public knowledge. In short I was simply resopnding to the comment you made that they would need several executives signatures. They don't.
One thing is for certain, the business side of football is ****ing boring. ...No wonder Swarbs likes it.
the figures I mentioned are correct it seems. massive deal that dwarfs all others. at least according to the sec and the float prospectus.
Aye, good call mate, that is a massive amount! £51 million quid a year doubles what Barca currently get, in that's a recession and from a company that is trying to reduce its marketing budget. Awesome bit of business for Utd
What page of the prospectus are the figures you're talking about on. Maybe my copy has that page missing
**** me everyday you add more on Tourist. Oh and I just watched the last 10mins of your game with Valerenga and anyone paying to have there name on that **** shirt is mental. What an awful looking rag it is.
cpol its being discussed on redcafe. the figure of $600m appears correct. it may include rights to sponson the training kit though. once I have my internet back I will post links.

a truly massive deal. swarbs can you change the title to say 51million. it just looks and sounds better :-D
The real reason for the dismissal - In a filing GM said it had "recently learned about" a contract awarded in 2011 to an agency where CFO Dan Ammann's wife, Pernilla Ammann, is also the chief operating officer"
Quite a reliable source http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/feedarticle/10362873 ANY deal of this magnitude is ALWAYS signed by multiples, it is not a ****ing bank loan you clown "While GM would not discuss Ewanick's departure, some industry officials said a deal as big as the Manchester United sponsorship agreements would have been signed by multiple executives." Apparently people in the industry slightly disagree with you I would also like to add that the deal was signed a day AFTER he was forced to leave, he did not even sign the deal
20 actually. We also get the trophy of liverpool for biggest shirt sponsorship deal in england and the CL of shirt sponsorship trophy off Barcelona
