Actually that report is the one that's worried me most in all this. It's feels almost like it's inviting Leicester to improve their offer by saying he's almost agreed a deal with us because Bruce's desire to keep him meant a lot and he's got a lot of years left in him. It's like saying to Leicester that they're not getting him with their current offer, but there's still time if they show their desire to sign him is greater by giving him the 3 year contract he wants rather than the 2 year we're offering.
I see how you could easily read it that way, Ric. But you could also see it as him putting a tad more pressure on City to 'go the extra mile' and give him 3 years.
I think he will stay, he's not a kid anymore and doesn't need to be out partying and so on, why should he go elsewhere if we can make him the right offer. I don't think we can afford to lose a player of his class no matter how Bruce might rejig the system. If Bruce wants to get shot of him then thats his second big mistake after the Alex Bruce signing
Either way it's saying the difference is that 3rd year and if he's offered it by a club he'll sign. I don't see why we're putting up such a fight to it though, he's 31 not 35. At 34 what is he going to have lost from his game? It's not like he relies on blinding pace to get his goals, and he's not exactly the kind of back to goal player who uses his size and strength that could cause back problems as he ages either.
Exactly, plus he doesn't have a history of recurring injuries either. We signed him on a freebie, so consider the 3rd year as the 'fee' we didn't have to pay when we secured his services.
Why did he offer to play for free? Of course it's about money, hence wanting a longer contract on the decent wage he already gets. The fact his agent entered talks with Leicester shows he has no loyalty and was willing to play for the highest bidder, lucky for city that might just be us.
Neither us or Lester will offer him a 3 year deal and I reckon we're offering similar salary so if he's as personally settled as people claim he's probably thinking 'what's the point in the upheavel of moving?'
IMO, Koren was never gonna leave us. But good that his agent has now spoken out and said as much. At least all the Hull City hissy fitters will have a better day with this news. Poor old Nigel Pearson,, His squad looks very average at the moment. As for his defence ?
I can categorically state that Robert Koren never had talks with Leicester and nor are we paying him silly money. He has signed for personal reasons. The Hull Daily Mail have claimed these talks as gospel, however nowhere has his agent stated they ever took place.
Can i be the first to say welcome Steve!! I see you can use a computer not like those articles state. Nice to have some proper info at last. Is it cos of Heskeys mrs he hasnt signed??
It could well be that its 2 years on top of the year Koren has left which makes it 3 years. Job done to 2015.!!!
Er no im not, in fact im that thick that i never played pro football. I was too stupid to have a trial. Coulnd'nt even find the ground. Boot laces were out for me, i had velcro
Steve, I hate to do this so publicly, but we need to talk. Your training methods...WTF?!? Giz a ring if you need more details. Oh, before I forget, you just make sure that Robbie signs that contract. I've seen him play more than you and trust me, he's class. I wouldn't lie to you. In a bit mate. Party H
