After Bullard being fantastic on loan we were always going to sign him up given the opportunity! At least we're not getting quite as conned as Hull ! Hardly Jewell's fault how Bullard is doing. Did you want Bullard to come at the time? I did.
If he hasn't got anything positive to say then he should shut the **** up! This is hardly going to encourage the waiverers and casual fans to come down to Portman Road next season is it? He has basically admitted that he has failed so in my book he should just walk away and give some one else the chance. He is tactically inept, his training methods are out of date and he hasn't got a clue about developing youth players. This is why more often than not he goes for the more experienced players. This guy is a joke and nowhere near as good as Royle who in my opinion has been by far the best manager we have had in 10 years. Jewell hasn't been helped by the ineptitude of Clegg and Evans but at the same time he hasn't helped himself with some pretty bizarre decisions. The time to take decisive action is now or do we wait until we are in the cack at Christmas as you suggest?
We did warn you Surely Jewell should've known the baggage that comes with Jimmy, thought he was off to China anyway?
You seem to misunderstand, all we want from Jimmy is more consistency. Most Town fans are happy he's staying

So it's not the friendly defeats that have put you in this mind then because a couple of weeks ago you were in a much more positive mood than you are now!! I think some people need to get a bit of perspective on things, the same people when we make a decent signing seem to think we're going to be brilliant and could get into the playoffs, the next minute after a couple of friendly defeats everythings a disaster again!!
I sometimes think you should listen to your own advise!! (no offence, just couldn't resist that one )!!
breaking that down - Shutting up - can see the logic but the press wont allow that so he can either say - a) I'm happy, b) We are progressing or c) we are not very good and need new players in. I can bet that you would not be happy with comments a or b either - as I can probably prove by trolling through posts in the past where similar things have been said and these pages have been awash with comments that he is blind etc. Casual fans - The first year of ME/ Roys arrival we had hundreds of casual fans due to the promise of brilliance. Again that failed due to everyone turning up with high expectations and seeing the worst football ever and results to match. People complaining about being promised a rolls royce and getting a clapped out metro - again he cant win. His training methods- Nobody knows - its your guess as much as mine. No players have come out with any comments yet and until they do it will all be guesswork so you may well have a point Developing youngsters - hit and miss. The likes of Cresswell have gone from being nobodies to wanted by premier league teams. T Smith and JET have developed. Lawrence is obviously highly thought of and is making his way into the game. How much of that is natural progression and how much is training god only knows. The likes of Hyam & Murray have rarely featured and I would prefere to see them. In Hyams case I think there is a slot in the team for him, murray is a bit more difficult. Going for experienced players - again 50/50 although nearer 75/25 against JET, Cresswell, Drury, Hewitt as signings are all relatively inexperienced. Last summer I would definately have agreed with you but since then things have improved and none of this summers signings can be seen as hasbeens. Nowhere as good as Royle - true -100% in agreement but none of them are as good as SBR. Given the choice I wish Royle had never been sacked and that we had not gone through the Jim/ Roy eras but its pointless living in the past. Not helped by Clegg/ his own ineptitude. Again agreed 100%. He failed miserably last summer and we had a long slow season but for a period I thought he had got it right and needed a few key signings this summer to fulfil his ideas. The 4-2-3-1 looked good for a starting line up and we had decent players for the front 4,5 or possibly 6 positions but the gk and defence needed major work with ideally a couple of extra players to boost those front 6 positions. I would say that ideally we needed 6 or 7 players. (2 keepers, RB, 2 X CB, DCM cover, LW? and striker?) and as we have managed to sign an GK, a very rough RB and a CD then I wasnt suddenly expecting miracles. The other day there was a thread which asked what we expected/ hoped for this season. The answers were mainly finishing somewhere between 8th and 12th or in other words a very hit and miss season. I cant see anything other than that with or without Jewell here at present. If there was an obvious work miracles with no money appointment out there (the next BFJ) then brilliant. Personally I wouldnt say give him to Christmas. I would agree with the poster the other day who said back him or sack him because the truth is our squad needs either a genius or cash to get it to the state that most of our fans seem to expect.
I understand what you are saying PTC but I think you will find that some of us have not been sucked in by any of our signings, I still think jewell is every bit the clown that keane was, he is just nicer with it...! (I just want us to sign a couple of keepers and another CB...! A couple of signings and everything in the garden is rosie..... ) - posted this about a month ago on another thread.! JWM was rightly impressed by our showing at Cambridge, as I was but we soon have fallen back into the same old same old as last season, players making the same mistakes, jewell moaning publicly about the same players making the same mistakes, what a divot he is turning out to be..! The sooner he goes the better....IMO..
Hoppers. I can see your point. The only possible argument I could have against what you are saying is do you thing any manager could turn - Edwards - Delaney-Smith - Cresswell into a decent defence. If you do then fair enough but personally I dont and that is why I think he should be able to say 'we need players'
For me Delaney never has been or never will be a pro footballer, how he ever tuned professional is beyond me, letâs hope Chambers arrival signals the beginning of the end of Delaneyâs stay at PR. Another CBs purchase is still a top priority before the season starts.! As for Edwards, he is probably as good a RB that we are realistically going to attract here, yes there are better RBs out there but are they going to come here, from what we have seen of late I think not. He does have short comings around his positional play & distribution but surely by now the coaches/jewell should be on top of that, should they not.? Cressey, although at times last season flattered to deceive is a good young LB, bags of potential & I hope he is with us for a long time, I actually think he is skipper material in a few yearsâ time. Smith again is young with potential & also has leadership qualities, I also thought his end to the season was very encouraging, out of him & Delaney, Smith looked to be the one taking control & assuming the senior position out of the two of them. So potentially we have the makings of a decent back four, with Loach we have a keeper who I think we will soon see becomes our firm number 1. But will they ever get the correct coaching under this regime, for me the evidence says they wonât..!
" we did warn you " bla bla bla bore off Hull fan. At least we didn't pay £5 million for him. At least we didn't pay such a huge signing on fee for him either. At least we didn't pay him £45,000 a week unlike you. ( That said we did exactly the same as you in the premiership, gambling by paying Sereni and Finidi George stupid money! ) At least he didn't get injured on debut, and was absolutely fantastic on loan. Given what he did on loan, we were ALWAYS gonna be interested in snapping him up. Of course there's the obvious risk with fitness and mentality, however we gave it a go. Lets see how he gets on this season. I HOPE he plays well. I have a feeling it could end up similar here at Portman Road as it did at the KC, however to a far lesser extent.
Don't think 'shutting up' is an option to be honest, I would personally rather Jewell coming out and say what he thinks. It could act as motivation for players to really push on in the pre season and prove him wrong.
