Just been reading MoN's interview from today saying a number of bids have been made and the club are waiting to here back Cannot wait to see some new faces and wonder who we have bid for, obv. Fletcher but who else??? Anita? Phillips? Olsson? N'Zonzi? Johnson? Going to be a busy couple of weeks
From the man himself. We are still waiting to hear back after a number of concrete bids. From Sunderland Echo
Id be chuffed with Olson, Phillips and Fletcher. They may not be earth shattering but I think theyd fit right in and improve us.
A number of bids for players is more than one yes, but not plenty. “But we have made a number of bids for a number of players and we’re still waiting to hear back.”
I didn't think there had been much action at all in the premiership until I checked each club: Reading 8 signings QPR 7 WHU 5 Norwich 5 Fulham 5 Aston Villa 4 Chelsea 4 Swansea 4 Southampton 4 Everton 3 Arsenal 2 Man Utd 2 Newcastle 2 Spurs 2 WBA 2 Liverpool 1 Stoke 1 SAFC 1 Wigan 0 Man City 0
We already have 1 in and I don't want us to continue like we did under Bruce changing the squad every season. If we can get another 4 in, then I would be happy with that as it would build continuity and solidarity which is how good teams develop, imo
1/3 of a team would do for me as long as the other 2 are going to add good depth and competition to the squad.
So we are in a really sorry state then... This 1/3 of of a team is to accomplish what? Europe, mid table or avoid relegation? I don't quite get what expectations are...........
personally think we need 4 new faces to go straight into the starting line up with 3players brought in to bulk up the squad
Well we tried wholesale change and got nowhere, no point in buying for buying sake - thats a lesson we should have learen under Keane & Bruce, yet here we are banging on about signings. Out of the signing made by other clubs we need to take into account : a) would we have been happy if MON had signed them(no, we are never happy, we support Sunderland.......is the overwhelming message I get from the majority on here) b) would they have improved our squad? c) Could we have realistically signed that player, e.g. would they have rather signed for us or the team they signed for? If you applied the above you would be able to count them on the fingers of one hand, imho.
I have a decent ITK source at Villa who said on Monday he had not heard we had made any bids for their players. The same source told me about Harry Redknapp leaving Spurs about 2 weeks before he did.
A couple of days ago one of the lads on here said that he'd heard we were trying to get AJ on loan with a view to a permanent move at end of season from man city. Obv don't know how reliable he or his source is. Even for a years loan I'd be quite happy with him, fletch and a left back. Another striker would, IMO, just be a massive bonus.
