Here's a tip for you - WE DONT KNOW. Nobody knows who wasnt involved in the conversations. End of. Why does everyone believe as gospel what a journalist plucks from the ether? Have you ever spent any time with sports journalists? It's a hugely eye opening experience.
Couple of genuine stories that have stuck with me: 1) I worked in a newsroom the night England won 1-5 in Munich. I sat and watched a journo write a full feature in a huge selling publication about 'this was one of those occasions that people will talk about in years to come saying "I was there" - and I actually was there to witness this amazing triumph etc, etc'. Genuine, I sat and watched him type that and he wasnt in Munich. 2) In another newsroom I witnessed a back page being filled in the following way: Q - "Who is the best striker in the world at the moment?" A - "Shevchenko" Q - "Which team needs a striker?" A - "Spurs" "Right, back page story - Spurs bid £20m for Shevchenko. Done" 3) And you should really watch some of the most respected national journos and regulars on Sky Sports News report on football. Put it this way, I now understand why in the Premier League all grounds have to have replay screens in the press box.
Not Worried at all. Its only pre-season and many of the players he has been playing with wont be in the starting 11. I shall wait for at least 12 competative games have passed before any judgement on Nick P.
I thought Proschwitz displayed some good control and passing last night, plus he won his fair share of headers for me. Not worried at all (yet).
Any chance both of you could be right? Maybe his club were willing to accept less, but it has been documented that other clubs were in for him, maybe it was a simple bidding war with 2.6 mill the least the Allams could pay to ensure they actually got him here. Just a thought! Also this thread is pointless and sums up some of the mindless posting that happens on this board, the guy hasn't played a proper game and he's already a failure.
I understand this was exactly the way it was. Apparently the Allams asked Paul Duffen to negotiate the transfer on their behalf, and he played another blinder. Always one for a deal is old Duffers.
What a load of bollocks. Give the guy chance to settle in and strike up a partnership. "Also this thread is pointless and sums up some of the mindless posting that happens on this board, the guy hasn't played a proper game and he's already a failure." <---------------- This
Tell that to Jimmy Carr ..... watched him on the box the other night (have to admit I laughed) ... heard Steve Bruce has made a bid for him to add some creativity .. thought it was ridiculous, almost as stupid as signing your son .... oh!... still at least his bid for Steph Houghton is based on some recent sound performances eh?
